Just wondering whether anyone has done it and would recommend it . I am 4 1/2months post c section and thinking whether I was mad even considering it! Off on hols in a months time so want to get in shape (well at least attempt it!)

Mad..it is called insanity for a reason! Get 30 day shred and once you find that easy, then think about Insanity Grin. There are loads of shred threads and a few Insanity ones if you do a search.

My DH did 30 day shred twice. He is a fit man, climbs mountains and plays 18holes of golf each week but 30 daynshred was too much even for him!

Ah shred isn't too hard, can be done by beginners, I would strongly advise against Insanity unless you have a good to very good level of fitness to start with though - and sorry slippy I don't think 18 holes of golf will get anyone there Smile

Not sure i would try insanity that close to a c section??? I have completed it once and have just started it again... Although it is awesome and I love it... It's bloody hard work... Start with the shred and work you way up!!! It doesn't matter about fitness level as its up to you how deep you dig and how many times you stop!!! Wink

Feel free to ask any questions x

You cannot compare shred to golf, you just can't :)

I would start with the 30 day shred to be honest and work your way up. It is not for the faint hearted but obviously you can start gently and build up.

Don't phone it in Grin

I'm in week 3 of insanity, there are a lot of jumping up moves and crouches and push ups, I wouldn't do it that close to a section tbh, its hard going and I'm still in the 'easy' month of it.

Having done lots of 'proper' circuit training in the military, as well as lots of Jillian Michaels DVDs- Shred et al, I can officially say that Insanity is proper hard. Doing it unless you have a reasonable level of fitness already could be a disheartening experience tbh. Would second the recommendations for Shred- don't woose out on the weights too much though if you want to see proper results. Having weights of different sizes means you can swap round and make sure you are always pushing yourself. I would pretty much any Insanity session is harder than 2 Shreds back to back, having done plenty of both options.

Missymoo can I ask how long Insanity takes, from start to finish. The Shred is supposed to be 20 minutes, but with warm up/cool down and starting the DVD and finding the right place, etc. it takes closer to 30. Is Insanity really 60 minutes or is it 60 minutes and a bit more?

Oh and the first month is about getting your fitness up the second month is the one where you get properly toned (apparently) so I don't think a month would be enough for you with those dvds.

The first month is between 35 and 45 minutes, most if its warming up so the tough stuff is about 20 mins long, the second month is around an hour long.

I am getting more into it now, I wouldn't go as far as to say I enjoy it, but I don't hate it anymore either, I have noticed a huge difference in my fitness level so far, I'm a bit aprehensive about next month though, is it as tough as I'm led to believe?

Please tell me that little dark haired annoying woman who 'woohoo's at everything isn't in the second months dvds. Grin

Sorry to disappoint but yes "Tanya" is....!! You have a recovery week in between and I'll warn you those shoulder burners are horrid!! I could lie and say second month isn't harder but I won't! It's the month where I lost my weight and you start to notice a difference in your body... Unfortunately the moves are harder and I would much rather stay in month one but you have to progress and "dig deep" I guess Confused!!! Keep going I am sure your killing it... Keep my updated with your progress as its great to hear about someone else doing insanity!! WinkGrinSmile

I've ordered this which should come tomorrow. It looks like a step up from shred but not as tough as insanity (I hope!) and alot cheaper . I'm just a bit bored of the shred and fancy a new workout dvd to try. Might be a better place to start and see how you get on (and save you money too!). Will let you know what it's like once I've done it if you like?
