I had my hypno gastric band 'fitted' by Paul McKenna last night...

lynniep Fri 11-Jan-13 11:01:11 far so good! Admittedly its not even 11am yet, but I havent eaten my snacks which are sitting on my desk and not even tempting me! Normally I don't allow myself anything till 10am, then I pounce!

I am doing this in conjunction with weightwatchers, which Paul McKenna would not approve of, since he despises 'diet clubs' (boy does this come through loud and clear in his book).

However since I don't know the man personally, and I feel I need the WW sessions for support, I am carrying on with pro- pointing and hoping that my gastric band will provide the backup I need to not binge and eat more than my body needs.

I've been (back) on weightwatchers for several months now and failed miserably because I am both a compulsive eater and a (hopefully) reformed bulimic.

I'd like to think this will help me - and I'm willing to try it because I am now as heavy as I was just after I gave birth to DS2 3 years ago (my heaviest, unless you count when I was 40 weeks pg!)

If anyone is interested I will report back smile

About a week. Mine is an app on my I phone. Meant to listen to it everyday and its half N hour so must admit I find it hard to fit in but defo making better food choices and eating consciously.
Will do it tonight for def I bet I fall asleep it's very relaxing.

I think I'm meant to listen once a month, but think I'll try and do it more often than that.

I have just had dinner. I served up my usual portion and just over half of it is covered in cling film in the fridge. Eating consciously is a bit of a revelation.

I lost 3 stone in 2011 on ww. I've kept it off (mostly by exercise) but I realised last year I eat either like a fat person, or a fat person on a diet. So this year I am going to learn how to eat like a thin person. And also get down to my dream weight in the process. Enter Paul mckenna! I have been doing make you thin for a couple of weeks (tried in 2010, unsuccessfully) and installed the band yesterday. I'd say both are really helping. I seem, post band, to feel uncomfortably full if I eat my usual quantities, which were already much reduced. Am I gullible? Well, if I'm eating like my.thin friends do, who cares?

Hi everyone! I read the book two days ago, did the cd yesterday am. I ate one piece toast for breakfast, bowl soup no bread at lunch, small meal in the evening. Haven't been thinking about food. When I have eaten the food tastes so much more flavoursome. What's going on???!!!

lynniep Fri 01-Feb-13 09:02:06

I had my weigh in last night. Only 1lb but going in the right direction. So 6lb in 3 weeks which is fine.
I've been struggling this week, and I know exactly why - its because I've been having trouble finding the time to 'eat mindfully' ie. actually sit down with my food without being distracted by something else (or someone else small and demading LOL).
I do actively notice the difference between when I'm doing this and when I'm just 'fuelling' because I need to. So whilst I've stuck to my propoints, I havent always stuck to listening to my body and tasting my food. More effort required this week.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 01-Feb-13 09:03:58

Hi Lou!

It is weird, isn't it? I started making myself some toast this morning and then got distracted and forgot about it. That would never have happened before. When I remembered it, I only ate a slice, threw away the second.

What is amazing is it highlights how much I was overeating before without even noticing. I seem almost disinterested in food, and I never thought I would say that. I hope it lasts.

Loumumoffour Fri 01-Feb-13 09:04:37

Don't be hard on yourself, that's good going. Be proud and go forward, the changes will happen.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 01-Feb-13 09:09:39

lynnie 6lbs in 3 weeks is brilliant! That's almost half a stone! Well done!

I don't know how you are managing to combine it with the WW to be honest, it just seems more hassle. I think I would end up eating more if I did that to do the points. Don't you find the band makes you not want to eat all your points?

Loumumoffour Fri 01-Feb-13 09:10:30

That's great stuff! Onwards and upwards AnneEyhtMeyer. I'm enjoying doing this, it's not a chore and you can still eat whatever you fancy.

Loumumoffour Fri 01-Feb-13 09:12:02

Lynne that's very inspiring to us all. We CAN do it. Excellent, that's put me in a good mood for the day.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 01-Feb-13 09:12:06

Also, does anyone else have a really vivid image of their new stomach size? When I'm eating I can just see this space the size of my fist and see it filling up.

Loumumoffour Fri 01-Feb-13 09:13:45

I have that image. It's all in the visualisation technique.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 01-Feb-13 09:14:31

It is amazing, isn't it? And quite scary!

Loumumoffour Fri 01-Feb-13 09:15:39

I'm starting to find it quite comforting now though, cos its a protective barrier from overindulging and snacking.

Jayneguest Fri 01-Feb-13 09:15:56

I'm still torn in this. Seeing a real hyponotist has really been helping me as I think I needed someone to talk to as well. I am losing weight and feeling much better. Just wishing I could get away with just buying a book and CD but not sure I would do it properly. Well done everyone doing so brilliantly :-)

Loumumoffour Fri 01-Feb-13 09:19:10

Then, continue seeing the hypnotist if it is working for you, that's the route to take. Everyone is different.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 01-Feb-13 09:28:35

Comforting, yes, but scary that hypnotism is so powerful!

Jayneguest Fri 01-Feb-13 09:41:09

Yes, I am going to continue going because its working and I don't want that to change !
Interesting read about Paul McKenna changing his mind about gastric bands...

Still very impressed that it worked for him and the people in the studio recording it as well. I love it

NotHerRealname Fri 01-Feb-13 10:46:53

Well done Lynnip, sounds like you are doing well.
I weighed myself on Tuesday and have lost 4-5 pounds in the first week. I am hoping this is not just fluid and that I am losing some fat too.
I am still doing the ww too, and have found most days I have to make sure I don't go under my points (26)
These last few days I have felt very hungry between meals but once I eat I feel comfortably full, and am eating much less still. Did have a couple of chocolates last night but normally it would be about 10! so pretty good.
I was fairly confident this would be good for me as I had hyposis to give up smoking 3 years ago which worked a treat.
I must be very suggestable!

lynniep Fri 01-Feb-13 13:48:06

Its not really hassle Anne. I plan my meals - at least for the day, if not for the week. I know what my intake should be and then I just make sure that food is available to me so I can eat when I'm hungry. I also have a supply of fruit (which is free on ww) to fill any gaps, although I dont really find I have those. I dont necessarily eat all my points - I try to stop when I feel full, but I will save leftover food for if I get hungry later.

I'm a big fan of the slow cooker having recently bought it, and I find that this is a great way of being able to fill up - because I fill it with veg and one type of meat - I can eat as much of the sauce (tomato based) and veg as fills me up and I will have already pointed the meat so can add that too if I want. The kids just get a pile in their bowl for tea.

TheMaskedHorror Fri 01-Feb-13 15:03:30

I listened to the cd again yesterday but I don't think this works for me sad
It maybe because I have a 3 month old and bfing?

theoriginalandbestrookie Fri 01-Feb-13 16:10:08

Its not really working for me Themaskedhorror.

I think its maybe because I'm immune to Paul McKennas voice - I used to listen to I can make you slim, or maybe because logically it makes no sense to me as I know in real life I'd be deemed not overweight enough to get a gastric band?

Have you tried I can make you slim? That made a lot more sense to me and worked for a good few months, but then I somehow got resistant to his voice or something, so am back at good old WW.

Plus if you are bf and baby only 3 mnths old it is maybe the wrong time for you to be trying to lose weight?

Loumumoffour Sat 02-Feb-13 08:46:40

Day 3 for me and I'm so disinterested in food. No snacking anymore. It's a revelation for me.

Cupcake1982 Sat 02-Feb-13 10:24:56

I might give this book a try!

Fab41 Sat 02-Feb-13 15:10:55

I installed the Gb today, so will report back. I do feel very aware of my stomach just now, almost slightly achy, and feel very aware that I ate a normal portion of lunch. I do feel slightly sceptical, maybe because I only want to lose a stone and a half, so a GB is not a RL option. Happy to have an open mind though as WW has done nothing for me so far.
