Helping DH with new diet

DH is starting a new diet on Monday (once he's eaten all the Christmas food apparently Grin) and obviously I want to support him as best I can...however I'm not convinced it's going to work. I don't mean that in a nasty way, just that he has a lot of weight to lose...(at least 5 stone)

He's going to do the Paleo diet (caveman diet) but to be honest it doesn't sound like he'll be eating much differently from normal. Lean meats, veggies, fruits etc...he eats lots of nuts & seeds which I presume are also allowed Confused
The main difference will be the refined carbs.

He has no intention of going to the gym - according to him, walking a bit more will be sufficient Hmm He currently walks about 10 minutes per day.

I don't really know what I'm asking tbh, maybe wondering if anyone has had success with this diet & if it's the right one for losing this much weight. We have 2 young DC so can't always follow his diet as a family.

I had to laugh, sounds like my DH - eating up the mice pies & brandy butter first! Smile

for me it's Weight Watchers or nothing, I lost 2 stones last summer in 3 months - then discovered I was pregnant with DC6...
I want to loose 3 or 4 stones and he needs to loose 5 stones. he suggested to do it together, which is sweet, but I'm not sure his enthusiasm will last.
(I'm not ready to focus on weight loss yet as still bf DD, so maybe I'm just a bit negative & unsupporting?)

I actually agree with extra walking, I think it's the best & easiest way to get fitter, especially at the beginning.
as the weight goes down he'll probably feel like doing exersice for longer/more frequently and will probably want to increase intensity and/or try out other sports/exercises

I think it's also important to drink lots of water, whatever the diet, a well-hydrated body functions so much better!

good luck to both of you!
