Weight Loss Buddy?

plaingirly · 25/11/2012 10:13

I was thinking that it might be good motivation to have a weight loss buddy! The people I know are either skinny minnies already or bigger and not interested in losing weight.

I struggle with motivation and willpower but really need to lose weight now. Finally found the motivation to start properly.

I am 26, 5'2 and weighed 13st 2lb a week ago. Not sure exactly where I am aiming for but want to lose about 4 stones at least. I'm not doing any set diet plan - just healthy eating.

Anyone want to buddy up and report back exercise done and food eaten?

Hi again plaingirly I remember you from Zumba thread. At the risk of sounding like a boast I was the same as you a year ago- 12 st 10 and 5ft 2. I have lost four stone and feel great(although need to lose a few more). I joined anC25K thread and got a lot of support so good luck with it.

Any tips?! Well done!

I tend to want immediate results - that is where I have failed before.

Yes me too - but once I started noticing it spurred me on. Being busy helps - on the rare occasion I am without DCs I reach for the crisps....
I was very strict about weighing /measuring everything and recording it in MFP. It only takes a while of feeling hungry until you adjust- one of my big differences is portion size, I tend to divide it 1/3 2/3 for DH and I and even though it doesn't look like enough it is - one of the downsides of being a short arse is that we just don't need that many calories to survive! One of the plusses is that weight loss notices quickly though and I reckon I went down a size per stone. Try and get into the Zumba or some other exercise as you can eat or drink those extra calories if you want so you don't feel so deprived. I love a glass or wine and nearly always have a couple of spritzers in the evening. Also means I'm not snacking.
My struggle is going to be keeping it off as I've been a yo yo dieter all my adult life but I just need to remember the joy of opening the wardrobe and putting on what I want to wear not dragging out the same old hides a multitude of sins outfits.
I am on a lose half a stone before Xmas thread - why not join us? It'd be a great start.

A weight loss buddy would be good if its part of your lifestyle change. Losing weight permanently needs you to change your lifestyle and do things you might not really want to do, like regular jogging. If I know I should go for a jog but stay tell myself I don't want to then I say to myself 'mind over matter' and then I usually do it. Its like I have reprogrammed myself. I lost 42 pounds like this and kept it off.
There are some reviews of some great weight loss programs on this site www.theweightlossproductreviewblog.com/
