Paleo/Primal/Briffa fans, talk to me in words of two syllables or fewer so I can get to grips with it

What can I eat? I used to be good at eating according to Briffa's guidelines (more or less), but have got all out of the habit and can't seem to remember what the heck I snacked on or ate for meals that took less than 3 hours to prepare and cost less than a tenner per head.

I have loaned my copy of Escape the Diet Trap to MIL (and she is diabetic and losing loads with it, so I don't want to demand it back!), and I can't really remember what on earth I was eating 6 months ago that worked with it.

So, menu plans, meal ideas, typical day menu anything! Help! I need to lose 10lbs a couple of pounds over the next 2 weeks and I can't seem to kick start myself.

Me and the DH are doing a food combining diet so you basically don't mix your carbs with your protein. its worked for us and you can still have a sweet naughty snack every day. so you can have like a jacket spud with beans, cheesy green veg omelette, spag bol without the spag etc

Paleo

  • Lots of non starchy veg, limit starchy veg.
    -some berries and citrus fruits, limited other fruits.
    -nuts and seeds (not peanuts), nut butters with no added sugar (not peanut)
    -lots of fish, poultry and meat cooked with it's fat left on.
    -some chocolate (must be dark, pref 80% or more coco).
  • some alcohol (distilled is better, no carbs).

-Lots of coconut, raw coconut oil and virgin olive oil.

NO grains (wheat, oat, rice etc), or products made of them.
NO pulses.

NO dairy (though lots of us do use some butter and heavy cream {but not milk}, and many use raw grass fed dairy if they can source it).

A sample menu of what I eat in a day and I've lost a stone and a half in about 3 months.
Breakfast: 2 free range eggs, 2 rashers of good bacon and mushrooms all cooked in coconut oil.
Lunch: big salad with seeds and avocado oil with fish or meat (organic), berries.
Dinner: organic meat or fish with vegetables or salad.
sometimes I have full fat yoghurt with berries or a paleo friendly dessert.

I also eat raw cheese and have nuts or beef jerky or raw chocolate as a snack. Drink black coffee, water and coconut water.

Typical Briffa day for me....

Breakfast-Full fat Greek yogurt with berries and seeds

Lunch- bacon and eggs or a salad

Tea-salmon with mozzarella,tomatoes and asparagus just bunged in the oven for 25 mins. Drizzled with olive oil before baking.

Snacks-nuts,dark chocolate and a brandy before bed!
