Come and weigh in:

docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmNIskihgXotdFVPcF9zWUhIal9BbTl5SnlTM3BlWVE#gid=0

Glad to see the losses so far!

I'm taking my weight as of last Friday, as I know that my weekend will have affected things. Yesterday wasn't too bad a day, although we went out for a Thai meal and even though I made the best choices I could, some of the food was definitely too sweet.

Now that I've got this weekend out of the way, it's back to it.

There's also a very interesting article for you to read, about leptin, the hormone that controls hunger:

Hurrah! I was wrong, I in fact have lost 4 lbs! I was 16 stone 0.8 lbs this morning, I am surely going under 16 stone by next Monday - massive pyschological boost. Being so close has really stopped me cheating this week!

Hope everyone else has a good week!

I posted this below on the last thread before I realised there was a new one so wanted to repost just to thank folks for the nice replies re DS being stuck in New York:

Thanks for the kind wishes, I must admit I am very worried. Apart from the fact that you would worry anyway, by the time they realised their flight would not get out the shops had sold out of torches, bottled water and much of the stuff you would want in emergencies.

I forgot about weighing this morning as. in my confused and panicked state, after very little sleep, I had a monster mug of tea first thing. I know what I weighed on Sat am (pre-cheating) so will add a bit onto that as an approximation if that's ok.

Goodness, how worrying, Viper Sad No wonder you forgot to weigh.

ABit - a couple of super strict days should sort you out.

thanks for the new thread

don't worry about weighing in until you're ready viper, i don't fiddle with the spreadsheet until later in the week anyway and you ahve enough to worry about! look after yourself too

stayed the same this week, which is ok, had quite a lot of processed stuff anyway. lots of meals out this week and meals i have no control over (have a suspicion of lasagne on the horizon), but will do my best to enjoy rather than stress any cheats

Morning everyone. It has all gone wrong for me this week and I am 2lbs up. I am not on a good place at the moment and it shows on the scales.

This week I am going to try and get onto this thread a bit more as I find that really helps to keep me going.

Pat on the back to those who are doing well and hugs to those who are struggling.

Congrats Biwi - because you are worth it - [tosses hair in l'oreal advert stylee] [hgrin]

Viper - really hope you get some reassuring news soon. [hugs]

I am a pound down to 9 1 and am really really pleased about it - and that is despite a bottle of red over 3 nights this weekend. Happy happy happy.

Greek yoghurt for breakfast. My no dairy experiement showed it doesn't seem to make any difference - thank god!!

Right must pack car with the RIDICULOUS number of bags I have got for not quite 5 days in Butlins for 3 people.......hope DH remembers to feed cat........

Oops, posted in wrong place, so reposting...

Viper, not sure what's going on for you...but sending very positive thoughts..

Thanks for the feedback ref the hunger, I did have a few pig outs last week, but am pleased with this weeks no gain. I did wonder if my body was having a blip & wanting me to regain the couple of lbs I'd lost ?

Just had my dukan galette (anyone else eating it ?)
it's 1 egg,
1 heaped tbsp of soured cream/creme fraiche/other cream

  • 1 -/2 tbsp of oatbran. Apparently the oatbran swells & takes other cals ours along with it (!). I have it with generous squeeze of 1/2 lemon & 1/2 tsp swirl of agave low GI syrup. Just hits my spot & it's about 10-12 carbs.

Agree it's great using other veg, as mentioned much earlier, I am was a carrots/brocolli/parsnip girl. Now it's all onions/pepper (ok, red/yellow/orange pepper) & courgette. Must have a go at the celeriac gratin thing too.

newstart have you tried tracking what you eat on myfitness pal ? I found that a real eye opener. First with thr amount of food I wasnt registering at eating, ie crusts off dd2 sandwiches, leftovers, mouthful of something on thr way to thr school run...(not suggesting anything, just my experience) & then looking at carbs, my diet ratio was very high, around 150g a day. I found 25-30g carbs made me miserable, but am feeling good on around 50-70g. I agree the dairy maybe the problem. Would you feel comfortable swapping or avoiding ?

My dh is interested in this woe but convinced that a calorie is a calorie & exercise is the way to loose weight... Mind you he is happy to join in with my low carb lunches !

Thanks to BIWI for keeping us on straight & narrow, but especially for falling off wagon & eating choc...I think the odd blow out rocks !

Mornig all.
Viper Hope you hear some news soon
BIWICongrats on the nomination. You are worthy, you have helped alot of people not only lose weight but transform their lives healthwise due to your knowledge on here and the bootcamp threads.

I have lost 1/2 lb this week. Not alot but I seem to have lost a good chunk of bodyfat %.

winegless I too struggle with DF. He is type 2 diabetic and even though I have explained how insulin works and given him some Taubes to read he still insists on doing as the doctors have told him and to have carbs with every meal and a beer every night. DM also has put on alot of weight over the past few years. We found some photos of her from about 10 years ago and she is like a different person, it made DH and I realise how much weight she has put on. Unfortunately she says that no diets ever work for her and because she is post menopausal then she can't lose weight anyway and it is normal to gain weight after the menopause. I despair with them, I just want them to take more control of their health so they can be around to see DC get married etc.

There are still some good losses happening so well done everyone Smile

Good morning everyone.

Well done MrsHP

Hope you receive good news viper

Am ever so slightly up this week which, quite frankly, is a miracle; had some really bad news and had a very carby food session or two for 'comfort'. Silly really.

Absolutely back on track this week. Half term here so lots of visits to museums (will have to pack some healthy, protein snacks - eggs, olives, hams etc)

Would like to be at least another 7lb down by the the end of Bootcamp and to continue down from there.

Well done losers.

To others like me struggling: come on Let's Do This!

p.s. I thoroughly recommend a visit to the Geffrye Museum (London)
Nearest station is Hoxton.

Back down to where I started 3 weeks ago. Sure it has to do with shred and other things but having to do so much thinking about it. Have decided to go Harcombe after reading the book. In practice, much the same as this except that I will have one carb meal. For me, that will be porridge made with water for breakfast. Am resigned to slow loss, but three weeks of no loss on v strict bootcamp and nothing to show is not working either. Can I still post here for support sometimes?

Wel down to all the losers Grin

Mrs V: we got stuck in NYC because of snow a few years ago and all help desks etc... closed down. It was a pain, but remember that NY is one the most civilised and friendly cities in the world. They will be looked after.

viper thinking of you

jacuaqueen - hi, nice to see you and hope you are ok, i am of the same sentiment, going to try to be on the thread a bit more for support :)

where im at.... dd was sick for about a month there... now shes teething bad, so she has been very clingy and to be honest the last few weeks have been really hard, and ive realised i just haven't had the energy or time to care what ive been eating and i have GAINED. so im not impressed. another thing is im short on funds at the minute and don't want to waste food so i eat the things that she wastes, which seems to be a lot, and are more carby things. so i think i should aim for less fat in my diet, as this is hard to change. i do aim for a high protein diet for her too but im not going to cut her carbs at one year old.

so i need to get my act together. stop eating what she leaves, stop snacking mindlessly when im tired and get off my ass and exercise!

2.5 pounds off for me. That takes me to 5.5 pounds off in total after 4 weeks and STILL not back to my first week's loss of 6.5 pounds. Least I didn't put on again. This time last year I was depressed because I'd hit 11 stone again - now I am 12st 12.5 Sad Really, really, really have to get a grip!

jan - sorry it's been hard, and I can quite understand why your diet hasn't been a priority. But don't cut the fat. Honestly! Cut the carbs instead.

Brass - of course you can still post here! I hope that it works for you. I liked the Harcombe approach, and a lot of what she said about candida/hypoglycaemia resonated with me.

sweetiepie - if you follow the link to the spreadsheet, look at the tabs at the bottom and you will find Bootcamp rules there. Just 10 easy rules to follow apart from number seven which many of us find very difficult.

Viper, my thoughts are with you and your family. Hope you will get reassuring news soon.

willowisp it may not be the case for you, but it's possible that the hunger is caused by the oatbran+agave

if it's working for you overall then that's fine of course (am i right that you have had bowel issues?), but i'm pretty sure they will cause a blood sugar spike which will induce hunger earlier than a lower carb breakfast
