The Little Black Dress Low Carb Bootcamp - starting in 2 week's time!

BIWI · 16/09/2012 21:43

Following on from the success of Bootcamp v1, where we lost in the region of 70 stone between us, we will be running a 10 week v2 Bootcamp, starting on Monday 1 October.

This is designed to take us up to the end of the first week in December, by which time you should have lost at least half a stone - and that's being pessimistic. There's every chance you could lose more than a stone over that period of time! Plenty of time to make sure that you can get into that Little Black Dress without the lumps and bumps showing too much.

This is how it will work:

The first two weeks will be very strict. I will shout at you a lot and will wave my big stick around with gay abandon. After this period, you can then relax into Bootcamp Light or, if it suits you, stick with Bootcamp for the remaining 8 weeks.

We have a Spreadsheet of Marvellousness, which will be upated each week, so that you can plot your progress.

There are 10 simple rules here , and it's really easy to do. No weighing or counting (unless you really want to). And above all, lots of support from all those who are doing it alongside you.

Who is up for it?

im up for a little motivational guidance,
im 1 week into low carb and its going well,
one thing im still unsure of, what % of carb/protien/fat should we be looking at, roughly?

I did find a set of proportions a while ago, but have no idea where! Will see if I can find it and come back to you.

However, as long as you are eating fat:protein:carbohydrate, you should be fine.

This is one figure that I've found, but it doesn't come from an 'official' source, so don't know how scientific/accurate it is:

fat 60 - 70% range (give or take) protein 20 to 30% and carbs generally 10% or less

I'm in - but I am a bit nervous

I have been shocked into trying to lose some weight over the past week - I am a stone more than my heaviest in the past. I have lost 3 pounds in ten days or so by cutting out refined sugar and carbs and by not drinking alcohol during the week.

I really really want to get back into some of my favourite clothes.

I'm in. Need to focus on trying to kick the dairy habit plus I am going to my parents for xmas which is never a good mix with low carbing so I will aim to get as low as I can before I go to allow for the inevitable gain Smile

Can I join too, please?

I did the Dukan diet before the summer holidays and lost over a stone but completely off track and need support and assistance to get back on track.

I need to lose about 2 stone ideally, 1.5 at least!

Here is the list of allowed veg:

If you focus on eating stuff that's 3gs carbs per 100g you should be fine. Just remember that some veg is more dense than others, so you get less 'for your money' - e.g. onion - one onion can be around 200g in weight, so around 16g carbs just in that one veg.

Although the aim in bootcamp is not to have to count carbs, you do need to be aware of how many carbs the veg you're eating contains.

Don?t eat any veg unless it?s on this list, and try and focus on eating those that are under 3g carbs per 100g:

Veg (raw)Carbs per 100g
Mushrooms0.4
Watercress0.4
Spinach0.8
Celery0.9
Broccoli1.1
Asparagus 1.4
Cucumber1.5
Lettuce1.7
Fennel1.8
Courgettes1.8
Cauliflower1.9
Avocado flesh1.9
Turnip2
Pumpkin2.2
Runner beans2.3
Swede2.3
Celeriac2.3
Bean sprouts2.5
Green pepper2.6
Baby sweetcorn2.7
Aubergine2.8
Leeks2.9
Okra3
Tomato3.1
Mangetout3.3
Shallots3.3
Brussels sprouts3.5
French beans4.7
Cabbage5
Yellow pepper5.3
Carrots6
Orange or red pepper6.4
Ginger (peeled)7.2
Butternut squash7.5
Onions7.9

By the way, you will find that different sites often give different carb counts for veg. I have no idea why they vary! Baby sweetcorn is a particularly troublesome one, and it seems that different varieties can have very different carb counts.

Also, be aware that American sites include fibre in their carb counts, so remember to subtract that.

Welcome to everyone - old or new! I'm glad so many are already chomping at the bit! Nothing to stop you starting now, if you want to!

I am really going to struggle with no fruit and cutting down on my alcoholism

Good luck everyone Grin
