Hello! anyone interested in improving quality of life by joining gym / exercising firstly, and also improving diet? I have signed up to the gym in June, and went 3 times per week for 45 min ish until school hols when couldn't go! Have gone back now though and am doing 2 gym sessions and a swim every week. added to an extra 15 mins walk now the kids have moved school each morning ( and exra 30 mins on the days i pick them up (3)) I am feeling better, sleeping better, and have lost a few punds. must keep it up and focus on improving diet too, as AF causes mega weight yoyo.... anyone else?

Good luck falaportugues. This is what I am doing, I am losing weight at a nice steady weight and feel great. My favourite exercise is swimming, it has really made a difference. I am also eating as 'clean' as possible and eating smaller portions.
I don't think you can go wrong with this approach. As regards your monthly fluctuations, I would think try reducing your carbs on those days? I used to find pasta was the biggest culprit and I don't eat it at all now as I don't like it. A lot of people find the same with bread, especially white bread.

Hi FLMummy! nice to meet you! it seems there are a lot of dieters on this board. Part of the reason I am not that into diet is that i have no self control. I cook proper meals with vegetables, and make puddings with fruit, but fry a lot and we eat far more meat and biscuits than I think we should. Still... for me the key is exercise, as it gives so much more than weight loss!

I have discovered that the rowing machine is friendly at the gym... and I have a swim while the kids are having their swimming lesson every week, and then they can play in the pool afterwards, which they love. I love that you don't get hot and sweaty when swimming, and i think i am improving in my stamina.

Thanks for the tip re carbs. I will look at that. I had decided to look at weight as a minimum/maximum over cycle, as it varies by more than 1/2 stone which seems wild to me. Then there are clothes which fit for a few weeks, and then don't! it's a right pain really!

hope you are having a good weekend

I felt tired today after walking for 40 mins (school run), 40 mins gym, and then 20 mins to school, went to Aldi, and had to carry the shopping home! Not doing that again. I will sleep well tonight though, so I'll just go and get the washing up done now.
