Hi

I'm planning on starting the Dukan Diet on Monday and wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction of a thread where I can find advice and support.

Alternatively if anyone else is about to start or just started feel free to join me on here Smile.

Hi Jenn1982 I started it today! I too would like to hear how others are getting on.

The website was on Watchdog last night. Complete rip off. Apparently the diet itself in't too bad, (using the book) but wasting money on the website sign up, you may as well burn your money.

I am thinking of doing this. Watched watchdog last night - gonna steer clear of the website (MN is better and free!) and part with £8.99 for the book at some point. Just finishing off the rest of my cambridge shakes...

Hi

I'm a massive dukan fan. Got to goal on it and easily maintain my weight by following one pure protein day a week and eating what I like (moderately and mostly healthy) the rest of the week.

I'd suggest buying the book it's a great help. Pm me if you have any questions.

I use a dukan forum on another website ;minimims and it is really good and helpful. Proper dukan board

Website is a con!

I'm a fan of the diet, but didn't really like PP days, and I ended up eating too much dairy so diet loss wasn't anything amazing.

But PV works very well for me am maintaining in consolidation (since June) a weight a stone lighter than I have ever been before. I'm still following the consolidation rules, loosely....

(I kept on PV every day until weight stabilised.)

One of the best benefits of the diet is the higher protein intake which reduces muscle mass lost as weight goes.

Thanks for all the responses.

Definitely not going to register on the website. I had a quick look to find out my 'true weight' but won't be forking out any cash. Have borrowed the book from a friend & working my way through that. Do I need to read it cover to cover?

I've also had a look on the myDukandiet website which looks really useful.

Basically, I've got about 1.5 stone of baby weight to lose which would take me from 10st7 to 9st. I really want to lose it by Christmas at the latest. Going to check my weight on Monday morning & take it from there. Am planning on doing 3 days of the Attack phase. My enthusiasm & motivation is high at the moment & Im weirdly looking forward to Monday but worried that I'll soon get bored of such a limited amount of foods! I can't imagine just sitting down to a chicken breast for my dinner!

Clapton how ar eyou getting on?

Jenn1982 are you doing the Dukan?!

BoisJacques when are you thinking of starting?

Fairyloo thanks for all the positives. I'm sure I'll have some questions for you!

Foreverondiet thanks for your positives too.

ipredicttrouble, today is day 3 of attack phase. So far so good, I have lost 4lbs. I started off as 10.13 and my target is 9st like yourself. I usually have no willpower and I have surprised myself. I am not hungry between meals, I just need to make sure I drink plenty of water. I was at work yesterday and didn't drink enough which left me feeling headachey.

I have no intention of subcribing on the website, it seems a rip off! I am just using the book, which has lived under my bed for a year Blush but at least I'm putting it to use now. I just decided enough was enough and like you I would like to be at my target for Christmas.

Good luck and let me know how you get on.

May I join?
I have about one and a half stone to lose.
Website wants me to do 2 days of attack and something mad like 70 -80 days of cruise.
Will def. ignore it and use the book.
And get out running again.
Monday, because I want to lose some by mid Oct.

I am not on the diet, but am considering it. Seems a lot of people are happy with the results.

It works. I did it briefly and lost some weght, which I kept off.
I also did lots of exercise as well.
I just want to lose some more.

coffeeinbed did you experience any symptoms in the attack phase? I'm feeling quite off today, very lethargic.

Report
coffeeinbed · 03/09/2011 15:50

No, but I usually feel better when I eat less.
And I have tons of plain low-fat yogurt.

I started today. I weighed myself this morning and I am the heaviest I've ever been (9st 12) - I need to get to 8 st 6 (I'm only 5ft2)
I've eaten too many eggs (didn't realise you should only have 2).

I had a look at the website and it gave me a pretty good tue weight and told me 2 days of attack (thank goodness I'm half way through that!!)

Where can I buy this oatbran from?
It will be very hard not to drink wine for 8 weeks - does anyone have any tips? Can I have a couple of glasses occasionally before I get to my target weight?
Would be good to be in a group with you guys - I think I may need some motivating!

Well this is Day 2 of Attack and I've lost 2 pounds already. I'm finding it ok so far but am a bit headachy. I suppose I just need to drink more water.

Yesterday I ate:

Oatbran with plain fat-free yoghurt for breakfast

Tin of tuna & fat free cottage cheese for lunch

2 salmon fillets for tea

I didn't feel hungry but it does feel quite odd to not snack on fruit.

At the mo I'm struggling to find time to exercise. I know that, for me, it's the key to weight loss but I have 2 very small children so time is limited & precious.

Inti, I'm going to miss wine too Sad. I don't have any tips I'm afraid. Would be interested to know if others have allowed themselves the odd glass. Or perhaps a Gin with slimline tonic??

Well Day 2 of Attack complete. I ate:

Oatbran & yog

Tin of salmon & cottage cheese

Prawns

Drank water, 3 cans of diet coke (prob not good but needed some kind of treat Smile) & tea with skimmed milk.

Did a good walk for about an hour.

Planning on doing 1 more day of Attack & can't wait to introduce some veg & salad after that. Will just make meals seem more like meals IYKWIM Smile

Hi day 2 done.
Smoked salmon and 1 egg for brekkie
Chicken bits and a fruit yog for lunch
Steak and galette for tea. Made his balsamic dressing and added it to the galette and it was ok with that.

Have been stuck in the rain at Legoland today and nearly threw in the towel (oh I wish I'd had a towel!!) but persevered and feel good now.

Having veg tomorrow. Looking forward to salad at lunch. Not sure I can face more chicken......!

If anyone is reading this thread who has done dukan can they let us know their results and tips?

Thanks

Hi Inti

Well done for persevering, must have been tough at somewhere like legoland.

This is Day 3 of Attack for me and have lost another 2lb. Also looking forward to some veg & salad tomorrow. I nearly threw in the towel this morning. I felt so hungry & quite weak when I woke & had cravings for a huge bowl of cereal & toast Sad.

Oh well the weight loss so far is motivating & being able to have a tuna salad or chicken stir fry tomorrow will be good.

It's the weekend I'm dreading really. On previous diets I've always let myself have one naughty day a week but am determined to be strict this time. Won't be much fun though.

If any Dukan experts are reading I have a couple of questions:

Are tinned tomatoes & tomatoe puree allowed on PV days? I know fresh tomatoes are but wasn't sure about the others.

Also, can you eat any fat-free yoghurt? Or does it have to be a non-fruit one? E.g. could I have a fat-free vanilla flavoured Activia?

Hope someone can help Smile

I just started today. I have a lot more weight to lose than most of you, it seems. I've put on nearly 4 stone in the past 2 years. Blush Sad And I wasn't exactly thin before that.

I had some ham for breakfast, chicken for lunch and salmon for tea, plus a bit of fat free yoghurt with vanilla extract and sweetener.

Don't really feel I've hit my stride yet. Can't stop thinking about the diet!

Can have any fat free yoghurt that don't contain added sugar. Sadly I haven't found any for sale in the UK. Activita all contain added sugar as well as artificial sweetner. However an occasional one as a treat.

Tomatoes are higher in carbs than green veggies. I think its about moderatioin - ie have chopped tomatoes if you won't be eating much dairy (also contains carbs).

I have just completed my Sainsburys delivery order so that I can start tomorrow. I have 2.5 stone to lose and need to be doing Attack for 3 days according to the website although given how much I have to lose I was thinking of seeing if I can stick it out for longer.

Inti I have just found MornFlake Oat Bran Sprinkles at Sainsburys so will be trying that with my yogurt.

Hi trouble. I would have thought that tinned tomatoes would be allowed if fresh tomatoes are.

I'm doing 6 days of attack.

Does anyone else have a headache? I never get headaches!
