Tesco/Closer/Guardian Diets

I need to lose weight and I want a diet that will tell me what to eat, with recipes. Does anyone have any experience of these type of diets and whether they are worth the money? What does it give you that say, following a diet in a book wouldn't?

I have done WW in the past successfully but find the new points system confusing. I have done low-carb 'ish' with success but am lacking inspiration for meals and so would choose the low-carb or low GI option on the Tesco website if I did that.

Just wondering if its worth the fee.

Tescodiets gives you meanplans, but it didn't really work for me as I often didn't fancy eating what they suggested, plus it meant making sure I had the right things in the house, and often I didn't agree with the suggestions - eg whilst on a low GI diet a suggestion of dinner of a cold pasta salad - firstly as I didn't think it was particularly low GI, and secondly if I was going to eat pasta I wouldn't want to eat it cold.

Personally I'd buy a low carb or low GI cook book for suggestions / inspiration.

Thanks Forever, thats a good point about the Low GI diet not seeming very Low GI- the suggested menu was a sandwich (bread) for lunch and pasta for dinner! I would never eat that many carbs in one day.

I've been using Tesco Diets for some time. There are several different plans you can follow. This includes GI, Low Fat, Light Choices, Low carb, Total Well Being (high protein but not no carb) and Totals (counting points). Some plans give you a meal plan and some don't, where they do you can swap things around so if you want to reduce the carbs you can.
The best thing I found about it is the support forums, really supportive groups and active forums. Much better than WW online.
By the way, nothing wrong with cold pasta salad - I had it today! Pasta, cucumber, tomato, onion, ham etc etc.
