Hi have just joined SW & would love some inspiration for lunches on extra easy days. Apparently I'm not quite following it right.....

the trick is a 3rd has to be superfree- i do this with fruit as dessert- i.e. an apple, grapes and banana. Jacket potato with cottage cheese and salad.

brown pitta with chicken and salad etc

Small jacket potato with tuna & quark filling and a salad.

Rice or cous cous salad with peppers, spring onions, cherry tomatoes, chicken breast, lettuce and whatever other super free veg you want to throw in.

Ham and new potato salad.

Just remember to only have 1 a choice ad 1 b choice each day and keep a food diary. I have a little trouble getting my head round extra easy as I have got so used to red and green days.

I only do EE.
I'm a bit lazy so in work days I have a ham sandwich, with fruit and mullerlight for pudding.
If I'm at home I might have eggs on toast or left overs from the night before(pasta, chilli etc).
For a quick and free pasta meal I do red onion, garlic, smoked bacon, chilli,a tin of tomatoes. I chuck in some frozen veg into my pasta too if I can.

Depends on whether you want a lunch to take to work or to eat at home?

At home, I have a 3-egg omelette with ham and chopped tomatos - I sometime put my 'a' choice of low-fat cheddar in if I know I am not going to need it for the rest of the day. I have also recently discovered Kerry LowLow cheese spread - it tastes delicious you can have approximately 2 generous tablespoons of it as your 'a' choice - I have it on a brown wrap with ham and tomatos plus carrot sticks on the side.

If I need a lunch to take to work, I have new potatos with chopped turkey breast and tomatos (with a little bit of extra-light mayo) or cooked rice with peas/sweetcorn/turkey in.

From the canteen at work, I tend to get either a jacket potato with ham and baked beans and salad or a plain potato with salad and take in my own chicken pieces to have with it.

Like someone else has said, I tend to make up my 1/3 superfree food with fruit afterwards - I am continually battling with this aspect of it Sad

Tbh I have never been strict with the 'super free' 3rd of your plate thingy.

Chatterbocs what are you eating on a typical day?
And do you know where you are going wrong?

Hi All, thanks for your replies.
Mrs Vidic, I was told I wasn't doing the 3rd so my weight loss may have been better. I lost 1 1/2lb 1st week. So I think it just needs tweeking a bit....

MrsHoolie

For my main meals I usually have 2 weetabix & have 350ml of skimmed mild, my 2 healthy extras for the day.
Then for lunch I made a spanish tortilla with potatoes, eggs, peppers, onions, peas. Apparently I should have had meat with this. Then for dinner I had salmon burgers with new potatoes & salad. This was ok. But the sw consultant said that effectively I'd had a green day & needed to syn the salmon....

Another day I might have chicken & bacon salad for lunch but apparently I need to add potatoes to this.
Then at night I might have steak, baked tattie & salad.

Today so far I've had weetabix with milk allowance for lunch Jacket with beans & I just grilled a bit of bacon for the meat part....

Tonight I making curry & rice but I'll need to have a 3rd veggies, is that right?

Thanks.

Yes you need to have a 3rd veggies on your plate with the curry and rice.

Did you buy the most recent magazine? They usually have 7 day meal plans to follow - there might even be one in the extra easy section of the book.

If I have an extra easy day I have: a big fruit salad with fat free natural yogurt with 28g fruit & fibre+ scan bran, I use my milk for tea throughout the day. For lunch I'd have a big salad with new potatoes and ham or chicken, or a Spanish tortilla like yours but with ham or bacon in. Then for dinner I'd have something like chicken breasts in 'creamy sauce' (fry onion, mushrooms and bacon, scatter over raw chicken breasts in a baking dish, mix 150ml chicken stock with small tub of quark and pour over chicken) with rice/pasta and carrots and brocolli.

Thanks acsec you seem to have it worked out, any suggestions for what veggies to serve with it please?
I like the sound of your couscous, do you make it from scratch or do you buy one of the Ainsley Harriot versions?

I usually use Ainsley cous cous and add fresh veg to it, apricots are tasty in it too.

I reckon you could add a load of onions, peppers, cherry tomatoes, courgette and aubergine to the curry and that would be the 3rd veg. I've not done a curry for an EE day only for a green. Or you could have the curry with rice then have a fruit salad afterwards as the 3rd.

I don't know why you'd have to syn the salmon,I thought it would be free....I don't eat salmon though so I don't know.
Also, you don't have to have meat every meal?

If I think I need to add some veggies I will just do a portion of peas or broccoli but as I said before I'm a bit lax on the 3rd superfree thing!

I only lost 1.5lb on my first week which I was disappointed about but after I got my head around it all I lost between 1-5lb a week.

You will have to syn the Harriot cous cous but I think it'll be quite low.

She would have had to work out the syn value of the salmon as she'd ultimately had a green day.

Ainsley cous cous - Tomato Tango is 1 syn, Spice sensation in 1 syn made without the butter

Sainsbury's dried cous cous - all around 1 syn made without the butter

but on a green day the salmon could be HE2?

Report
acsec · 31/08/2011 15:35

Yes it could be a HE2 on green but depends how much salmon she ate, if it was more than the HE amount she would have to syn value it.

Hi, thanks. In the end I made some side orders of onions (like the one's you'd get in an indian restaurant)& a tomato salad, I thought about a fruit salad but wasn't sure.....

I had just about 114g of salmon, I worked it out to about 6 1/2 syns.

Thanks again appreciate your support.Wink

No worries, glad it was helpful. Realised missed an ingredient from my chicken in 'white sauce' recipe - tspn of tarragon mixed in with the Quark and stock. Just had it for dinner, very tasty! Bake for about 25 mins covered with foil on 180/ Gas 4(?)

Hi, any ideas on different meals that I could make for my fiancée to take to work? At the moment I try to change up all the different pasta/rice and salads but am running out of ideas as she can't warm things up or nuke them at work. Slimming world ideas only please. Thanks in advance. Adam
