I've lost half a stone but now my weight is stuck - any ideas?

This is a typical day:

Bfast: Porridge, tbsp sunflower seeds, tsp honey
Snack: Banana
Lunch: Feta, tomato olive salad with krisp bread and sugar free jelly
Snack: Fruit
Dinner: Meat and salad/veg

I'm not hungry on this, I drink 2 litres of water a day, walk 3 miles a day and zumba twice a week.

How long have you been 'stuck'? Just asking because in my experience weight loss doesn't happen at a constant rate, for me it sometimes seems to stop for no apparent reason then restart again (as long as I don't get discouraged and start overeating!).

You should lose on that, sounds very healthy. But here are my thoughts:

  • Is it TOTM and how long stuck for, weight loss not always linear.
  • How many calories a day (ie I'm asking about portion sizes?).
  • Swop banana for lower GI snack.
  • Cut the sugar free jelly, some people find aspartame rerails weight loss efforts.
  • Could you sometimes have eggs for breakfast? I lost weight best with protein at each meal. Thinking honey and then banana might affect insulin levels?

Are you drinking diet coke / coffee?

Thanks :)

I'm at about 1300 calories a day - I've only been stuck a week but have a target I need to meet for my next Gynae appt in a month and have 3 kgs to go.

I'm on metformin and am taking the pill back to back so no totm.

I had 3/4 cups of coffee with sweetener on Mon and Tues but don't usually drink it - normally just water and one glass of sugar free squash.

Yes I could have eggs for breakfast - the breakfast is adapted from an AWT low gi recipe but he uses a lot more porridge oats and has strawberries in it.

I did think perhaps some days I'm not eating enough but I don't really feel hungry in the evenings as some days I'm only having 1200 cals and have toast for tea...

Being stuck for one week isn't really stuck. You'll probably lose more next week to compensate.

a) sugar free squash contains aspartame - some people find it slows down weight loss. Sugar free jelly also contains aspartame. But others find it doesn't affect them. Same with caffeine.

b) Presumably you are taking metformin for insulin resistance issues - so comments about banana apply - switch for lower sugar fruit and have with a few nuts to lower GI. I think agave nectar lower GI than honey so try that in porridge.

c) I have protein at each meal - eggs for breakfast, tin of fish (tuna/mackeral/sardines) lunch with salad, and meat/poultry/quorn/tofu or more fish for dinner.

I know its not really stuck after a week Blush just impatient as it was going so well!

I was using the jelly to curb any sweet cravings

Thank you for all the advice :) I'll see how I go.
