For the last 3 weeks, DH has been doing 30-60 mins exercise a night, plus cutting out chocolate& eating healthily. He's been doing really well and lost about 6 lb. We had a busy weekend with a picnic and a few glasses of wine (but nothing outrageous) and he appears to have put the whole lot back on; he's gutted and utterly dejected! Is this just how things go-I'm not quite sure what to say to him
Most of weight lost at start of diet is water not fat, so overindulgence early on and it will come back. I can put on 4-5lb over a weekend if I drink or have lots of sugar/wheat. I suspect though that after a few more careful days he'll be back to the weight he was before the weekend.
Yes this is how things go. Just say to his its water retention from the wine and picnic and he'll be back down after 2-3 careful days.
