2 stone to lose - it starts here - please help me along(34 Posts)
Hi Everyone - I have pretty much done every diet going over the last 25 years. WW, SL, Atkins etc.
Anyway - have decided that simple good eating regime and exercise plan is the way to go.
Have a great mate who is writing me a fitness plan as we speak and my first major gym session is on Thursday.
I am basically following WW as I have all the books etc - low carbing as well which means lots more to eat!
I know what I have to do but what I really need is support along the way.
Starting weight 11.8
Target weight 9.10
I am 5'3" so a right little tubber!
Please join me and let's encourage eachother.
Can we weigh in on Fridays? That's always the best day for me!
Hi, I am starting WW tomorrow . Have done SW in the past and SlimFast. SW was quite good but I am b-o-r-e-d of the diet now as I know it inside out, so WW it is, for the change! I have a few good days and then blow it all, then feel horrid because I hate the extra weight and never having anything nice to wear... I dread the Xmas parties and the photos with a double chin and bingo wings and fat shoulders, my top half was always my best feature & saving grace, and now it's just as bad as the bottom half...

Ooh can I join in too please? I've got 2 stone to lose as well. Been doing Cambridge Diet for the last two weeks, lost 7lb so far. Am having shake for brekkie and lunch, then healthy tea. Can't give up the wine though so mixing it with sparkling water and sticking to two glasses a night!
I gave up smoking in November and have put two stone on since then, so REALLY need to get rid of it!!

Hello, becklet! I am also an ex-smoker and have found myself dangerously thinking of the days when a fag helped deflect a biscuit tin raid. Must not go back there!!! I don't want to smoke again but I am so sick of finding myself picking at food and so sick of dreading an invitation to a night out because I feel blobby. I can't not do this diet!
OOh great there's a few of us then with similar goals. I have been really good today and got home to a Thai Green Curry!! Very nice of DH to cook but 2 cans of coconut milk - 20 pp per can!! I tries very hard to not have much sauce but it was gorgeous!! Have to be super good tomorrow.
DH can be a bit of a feeder to be honest. And he does a lot of the cooking so a lot of willpower is going to be needed.
By the way Becklet - well done with the smoking. I am still trying to quit. Drastically cut down but it is very hard so excellent work!
You need to get your DH on board with your diet and ask him to help you. If DH is cooking but not doing it WW style then I do my own cooking.
low carbs in the evening also works for me along with Zumba!

Hello! Can I join in here too? I have almost 2 stone of baby bulge to lose.
I was following the Dukan diet for a few weeks, lost about 9lbs but put some of that back on after 2.5 weeks away on hols. I got back on track last week but then a weekend away saw me chowing down pizza, beer, crisps and anything else anti-Dukan that you can think of.
I'm struggling to get back the motivation that I had before so hopefully this thread will help.
Starting weight as of this morning was 12st 12lbs
Goal weight is 11st
Height: 5ft 6
Friday weigh in works great for me as it gives me a bit of time to rectify any slip ups over the weekend!

Have not been below 11.6 in 2 years and am so determined this time to crack it! About to go on holiday - will check in when I get back.
My DH is fed up of hearing I'm on another diet so I will just modify what he is cooking for the family. The less fuss I make the better I think. Anyway, I don't want to feel that I am on a diet - just a healthier way of eating for ever. I was going to try Dukan as I had great success with Atkins a couple of years ago.
My only problem is that I can't live my life without carbs - so I need to learn to curb the carbs without banning them completely.
My friend has just qualified as a personal trainer so I am her first real 'client'.
I have done gym with her before and she is an evil bugger so I hope she gets results!

Snap, iamamug, my DH is also fed up of my "dieting"! It's a running joke in our house that I'll say "I'm going to start healthy eating next week" and he says in a monotone "I'll support you". (however he has never actually supported me on a diet). He pulls a face if I can't be eating carbonara or chocolate cake or a Finest type calorie laden ready meal when he is having it for tea, and he doesn't see why we can't have a biscuit laden cupboard, why I won't share a huge garlic bread with cheese with him at a restaurant etc, just because I'm on a diet...

Hi sleepy thanks, I am so with you on the (mine) bingo wings and my chins! I am a teacher and we had an end of term photo for me and my tutor group and I almost choked on my morning muffin and full fat cappuccino. Realised the fat woman was me........
I actually think dukan is a better diet (quicker) but I need my gin and slimlines and like that I can earn points via exercise. Plus I know I will take a break on my hols next week and can catch up when I am back!
Well we both cooked tea tonight and the boys all had gammon and duck eggs ad home made chips. I had a lovely steak with salad and had a few chips and relished every one! Not perfect I know, but I would have had the gammon and chips before.
I think he knows I mean business and helped by eating all the chips!
Tomorrow morning is my gym session with my friend who is a personal trainer so my programme begins.
Got a big meal out in a few weeks for DSS's 21st birthday and I don't want the ex- wife seeing what a blubber I have become!
Oh - I know I shouldn't peek but I was below 11.7 this morning - it's working!

Excellent, iamamug! You are lucky to have a personal trainer friend too. I am hopeless at exercising.
Well I joined WW, so far so good, the diet looks ok and I was surprised at how much you could eat including "nice" things eg WW choc mousses & cereal bars etc. SW was great when I was younger and didn't have so much of a sweet tooth but now I need some sweet stuff in my diet without it blowing ALL my points for the day. The group was friendly and the leader was bubbly and outgoing, just what I wanted. Feeling positive!
wentworth I do really really hate the photos.. I go out thinking I look Ok and then see a pic of myself on the nigfht and I can't believe my shoulders really are that chubby or my face looks so big...
I am exactly the same in photos! I think I look ok but the photos tell a different tale! I swear my mirror is making me look at least a stone lighter than I actually am, grrr!
Going well for me on dukan so far this week. I'm back alternating between protein only and protein + veg days, which makes it a bit more interesting. Looking forward to weigh-in tomorrow and hoping some of this weekend excess weight comes off!
Hows everyone else doing with WW/SW or the other diets?
Well the gym session was excellent - very tough but I'm sure it will give results. We're considering a late deal on a trip to Cuba at the end of August so yet another thing to spur me on - a bikini!
I also hate photos of me at the moment. I'm always shouting 'Don't get my double chin' lol!

I am pointing properly for the first time in ages and when you write down everything you eat it does show that the odd biscuit can make the difference!
Yay, there's a few of us now! Well done on the gym session iamamug, I've discovered a love for exercise for the first time ever this year - do circuits twice a week and Pilates as well. collision I am loving Zumba too, think it's my favourite class!
I've been good all week and sticking to my shakes, but had a chocolate craving tonight and succumbed to a Twirl, feel bad now.
Sleepyspaniel sooo know what you mean about dangerous thoughts about cigarettes! Think it's just the fact that I've gone so long without now that's stopping me from going back to them, but it's really easy to think "oh if I had a cigarette I wouldn't be hungry" isn't it?

I'm off to WW next week. Can't exercise qt the mo cos of some health problems but starting Pilates again in Sept so hopefully I'll then regain my core stability to allow me to restart at the gym.
Was in tears last night trying to find an outfit for going out tonight so I'm feeling that I need to get my self sorted out now.
Well done to those who have already lost, you're an inspiration!

Down from 12st 12lbs at the beginning of the week. Am chuffed that all that weekend excess came off so quickly. I've got another difficult weekend coming up. Out to dinner tonight with DP and at a hen do tomorrow afternoon/night. I don't want to keep putting on and losing these same few pounds so I must make better choices - drinking vodka and diet drinks and choosing grilled meats and salad at dinner.
Can't wait to hear how everyone else has got on!

I seem to be really good for a few days, don't drink or eat bad carbs & the pounds fall off-literally 6lbs in 5 days then the weekend comes round, I drink and eat rubbish & it all goes back on. Same thing every week!
If only I could stick to the diet at the weekend I really think I could meet my goal weight.

12st 12 today, 2lb down since Weds (start of WW diet) early days but I'm chuffed! Mainly because it's not felt like an effort helped by the low-points WW branded bars and mousses etc. No, it's not exactly Green & Blacks quality of taste sensation, but who cares if it keeps me away from the G&B... I actually don't feel deprived of something sweet. Lunch was a fajita wrap with hummous, peppers, salad and feta cheese, a handful of pretzels, a banana, a WW choc bar... all comfortably within allowance leaving lots of points over for dinner.. <<where's the catch? eyes suspiciously>>. Anyway, it works. I could get used to this!!
I totally empathise Slainte re the clothes. Its an awful feeling. I have written a very honest list of why I want to be slimmer and I try to keep that in mind to stay focused... would love nothing more than to be able to try on dresses because I like them not because they will hide my legs/arms/bottom!
Forgot to weigh in yesterday -duh!! Was 11.6 this morning so 2lb off since Monday. Not bad and typical for WW. It is slow but steady!
Had another workout this morning on my own and was pleased that I managed to push myself harder than I usually do. Motivation still there!
Welcome Hammy and Slainte - we're all in the same boat. We will all help eachother along.
I often undo all the hard work over the weekend - it's the only time we really socialise. Nothing on this week so no alcohol. Hopefully that will help.

Can I join....? Am wanting to shift a couple of stone but am not sure of my true weight anymore, its all post pregnancy weight!! My youngest is two now so no more excuses I always start out with good intentions but then get lazy or go I'll just have one and it turns in to a packet So will post my weight tomorrow... have tried the old ww points pre my second child and it worked until I got preggers with my third. So a friend passed me her sw books so thought I would give that a try on the extra easy programme...

So 15lbs to loose... Am gonna hammer the treadmill plus do Jillian Michaels 30 day shred.. but have seen she has a new out called ripped in 30 so thinking I may invest in that... or go back to my old faithful Natalie Cassidy!!!

Still plodding away on the WW. My DH, true to form, has now bought in multi packs of chocolate bars and salted cashews etc, he says he thinks "ah well, she's eating her own diet stuff, I can eat my stuff" but it's flipping irritating!!!
Come on girls, let's visualise walking round the shops in November and picking out a gorgeous dress for the festive season, something that would currently be "too" short/tight/look wrong as we are now, but will look FAB on our slimmer selves... I want to wear cute ankle boots without cankles, and have lovely gazelle legs instead of tree stumps!! that's my thing! Oh and I would love to wear something sleevless again instead of always choosing kimono or angel sleeves to hide the chubby tops of my arms .
