Anyone fancy a thread to support losing the baby weight.

Dd2 is now 7 wks, and my vanity and wardrobe are keen on losing about 21lb to get back to my fighting weight.

Dd is bf, so obviously can't go too bonkers, but aiming for 1lb a week, to get into something skimpy and floaty for posh December wedding do Grin.

My plan includes the harcombe diet, davina DVDs, a massive greedy bf baby, and general harassment of having 2 dc.

Never heard of the Harcombe diet, tell me more. My DD is now 16weeks and BF, and weight not shifting in the slightest, so am up for having a thread to (hopefully) keep me motivated to lose a bit and cut down on the choccies.
1lb a week sounds good to me. I also need to lose in the region of 2 stone.

Oooh, can I join in??? Ds is now 16 weeks, I've lost a fair bit by bf'ing but that's ground to a halt now, got 1.5stone to lose still (I put on A LOT while pregnant). What's the diet you're doing? I've got zumba for the wii to try and exercise, can only manage about 10 mins at the moment but I'm sure I'll get better with practice!

Zumba for the wii is HARD! I always get confused while having to hold my boobs down hahahaha

Hello all!
I followed the zoe harcombe diet when I put on over 2st AFTER dd1, had hyperemesis in pregnancy so went wild on food as soon as she was out!

It claims to stop cravings and it worked with me, as I'm an absolute pig for chocolate, and left to my own devices will eat those massive bars of it everyday.

There's a phase 1, where you can eat unlimited amounts of veg, meat, fish, butter, eggs, full fat natural live yogurt, and either a bowl of brown rice, or porridge, decaff tea and coffee. You can cook with olive oil and coconut milk too, which is handy for curries etc. Typical day would be porridge with water and bit of coconut milk, Spanish omelette with salad and chicken, chicken butternut squash curry with coconut and green beans, and loads of live yogurt.

Phase 2 is split into carb meals and fat meals.
Carb meal is anything involving potato, pasta, bread, with unlimited veg, low fat dairy, fruit, olive oil for cooking. Usual lunch would be hummus pitta with roasted veg, salad with fruit and low fat yogurt.

Fat meals, are meat, egg, fish, full fat dairy, berries, unlimited veg.
Usual meal would be chicken salad, or steak with peppercorn sauce, garlic mushrooms, veg, and strawberries and double cream for desert.

Really the book explains it all better than me!

I lost 2.5st in 2.5 months last time I did it.

Agree about the bf- health visitor told me it would drop off, so ploughed into chocolate like no tomorrow, it has helped me maintain my weight though where I would have put on before.

Am going to my 6 wk check before I embark on davina DVDs, apparently you have to wait until your pelvic floor has recovered before bouncing around, how the hell do you know when it's recovered!

I'll weigh on Monday to find out the damage and see if I've lost anything.

Is anyone sensibly eating or following diets?

Definitely work up a sweat. Does my tummy muscles too because I end up laughing at myself for moving like a wooden spoon instead of he super bendy super fit 'instructor'! Getting DH to put cellotape all round my boobs to hold them in today...

I've never sweated (and laughed) as much as when doing zumba, apparently it burns 500-900 cals an hour depending on how hard you push yourself! I'm awful at sticking to a diet, although it's been well over 10 years since I tried, my weight has always just stayed between 9 and 10 stone without me doing anything. Regarding the 6 week check junebug when I had mine they didn't look at me at all (didn't even check my stitches) so if you are 6 weeks after the birth and feeling ok I'd say go for it and just take it gently, unless you had a c section.

Ooh can I join? DD is 2 weeks old today, am bfing, have 2 stone to lose. I plan to start counting calories and just generally eating healthily and being more active as I'm getting my energy back.

Had a forceps birth and 3rd degree tear so not up for bouncing around to excercise dvds for a while in case my insides fall out! Shock

Weightwatchers for bfing mums sounds good

Right, I've decided I am definitely joining WW on Monday morning. How much is it these days...?

I lost a stone on it before becoming pg so I know it works. I also realise it has completely changed since then so all my old stuff will be redundant.

They've got an offer online atm think it's £30 for 3 months Smile

Zumba bought!

Dd1 will also like it, as we're going through the singing dancing 'shows' stage at the mo.

I'm also planning on doing a shop today of healthy stuff, and clearing the house of chocolate.

Hope you recover quickly from your birth Nursesunshine, the insides falling out feeling is normal even if you haven't torn. 7 weeks on, I can now get up from the sofa without doing my pelvic floors first! Had a section last time, so is all new to me too.

Rockchick- thought they did internals to check stitched at the 6 wk check, was very nervous, maybe they don't unless you ask.

Don't know if it just depends on your pct, but they did all the checks for my little boy then passed me onto a different dr who just asked me some questions about how I was feeling then that was it, didn't take more than 5 mins for me (ds part was longer obviously) I had been very scared about what to expect but left feeling sort of let down :-( I'd had an episiotomy tho so not sure if it would have been different if I'd torn?

I've never tried anything organised like weight watchers, is it really worth doing? Does it work doing it online, I feel like the motivation to lose weight would be the shame of being the only 1 at the meeting to have not lost weight!!

Report
HumptyDumpty1 · 10/07/2011 20:03

I was the same at my 6 week Rockchick, had stitches from an episiotomy and no checks just questions.

I struggle to keep on track with weight loss, too much temptation! I found WW really useful as do it all online and on iPhone, and as they have all brands and supermarket brands it's easy to eat the things I want to and track the progress.

3lbs in 3 days and I've eaten looooaaadddssss and not exercised!

Hello!

Can I join? My DD is 6 weeks old and I'm lighter than I was before I was pregnant as I was huge and never bothered me before but starting to like it now so want to get to a size 14/16 if possible. Was a 22/24 before and now an 18/20.

I went to weight watchers for a while and it didn't do much for me but like rock chick said once I realised they still said well done to me when I didn't do anything I stopped trying!

I am BF and had a c-section from a failed instrumental delivery so feeling ok but got to be careful as it doesnt hurt at the time but then the day after I am curled up on the sofa with the biccies!

Milkybrew · 12/07/2011 18:54

Hi, could I join you? Have lost most of the baby weight through BF and walking lots. DD is now 9 weeks and I want to get back into my old clothes-can't afford new ones! I did my first exercise DVD today, then walked 3 miles with DD in a sling. The only fly in the ointment is that the BFing is making me starving so this may be counter productive! So I'm not actually dieting but eating little and often and trying to choose healthy options with the aim of losing a pound a week.

Walking loads, my 16wo DD is getting bored of her pushchair haha, bit of Zumba on the wii when I can be bothered and sometimes ministry of sound body burn DVD but that really does burn!!

Just joined my uni gym yesterday though so hopefully fit in a couple of sessions a week while DH isn't at work in between feeds to loose more!

3 course pizza express hasn't helped today though lol Grin

ah well you can have the odd off day every now and then. I haven't got any workout dvds, can you recommend any?

Will go to gym perhaps once or twice a week when dd is old enough to be left but prob not for a good few months

Report
HumptyDumpty1 · 13/07/2011 21:10

I've got the ministry of sound 'pump it up' it's a dance workout and is hard, so you don't get bored of it. Plus there's 5 things you can select to add to warm up and cool down so you can increase intensity and length of the workout as you get fitter. I'd deffo recommend it.

DD gets bored if my crack so she's easily left with DH haha he had a funnier face than me so she laughs more at him (this is what I'm telling myself anyway - highly annoying as I carried her and I'm feeding her!!)

I'm not v co-ordinated so think I would get annoyed and discouraged if there's hard moves to master!
