A thread to list high carb, low carb and no carb foods.

I am following the Neris and India's Idiot-Proof Diet and so far reading their books has been the single only thing that has spoken my language and given me the push I need. It is a high protein, low carb eating plan. While it is very good, it doesn't list everything so could use some ideas as per the thread title. Hopefully it will help others to.

My current wondering is about swede as I have prepped some for dinner and don't know if I can have it.

Watching with interest. I have Neris and India's book but haven't read it yet. I think low carb would probably work best for me but have never done it before. My current diet is really carb heavy (cereal or toast for breakfast, sandwich or jacket for lunch, always pasta/rice/potatoes with dinner and lots of biscuits in between). I don't know what to eat instead!

If anyone has any ideas for low carb breakfast and low carb lunch please do share. I need some suggestions that don't involve too much preparation as I will have a 2yo and 9mo pulling on my leg whilst I attempt to make them Smile

I highly recommend actually reading the book Grin. It really spoke to me (poncy sentence) in a way that no other eating plan has. I have the diet book and the cook book and so far have made 2 recipes. I am not hungry, are drinking loads of water and feel confident I will lose the weight this time.

Breakfast was 2 fried eggs, bacon (meant to be 4 rashers but only had 3 left) and some mushrooms fried off in butter.

Lunch was Salade Nicoise.

Dinner is sausage and various vegetables. Easy peasy.

Change of plan as the sausages had breadcrumbs in them. Having fried onion and mushrooms with my veg now.

Hi Phipps, mind if I join in? I've been following India Knights book too for the last 2 weeks but have been very liberal with quanitities and snacking on cheese and peanut butter. All low carb I thought so they'd be ok. I've been running 3 times a week and was inketosis so was feeling v. confident at my weigh in today only to discover that not only had I not lost anything but I'd gained a pound. I really want this to work so am going to be stricter with portion control this week and no cheese or peanuts. tonight had chicken dinner ( I presume you can eat the skin?), veg and cauliflower mash. Did a 5k run and 45 dog walking. Tomorrow it's chicken mayo salad and sheperd pie. Keep us posted as to how you're doing

Of course, all are welcome but really this was meant to be just for listing relevant foods but we can do both Grin.

I have worked out my calorie intake needed so will also be more careful with portion sizes as I went over by about 100 calories.

Is it? Well, it is a recipe in my idiot proof diet book so I will hope for the best.

Came in at 23.7 carbs so won't be a regular lunch.

Quorn was my saviour when I was on low carb, that and eggs!

I had plenty of extra lean chillis as well with no rice(all though I did try the cauliflower "rice" once and it was ok, just time consuming)

Talk to me about Quorn please. I know nothing about it, how to cook, when to eat, what to have it with, etc.

Yes, I am surprised how much carb there is even though I am not having bread, potatoes, etc. I am really doing well and if I lose nothing then the GP will have to listen to me that there is something wrong.
Thanks for the link.

Confused says no to swede and nuts when my N and L book says I can.

By the time I have my dinner I will have only had 604 calories to eat today Shock. I am not starving but clearly that isn't really enough even if I do want to lose 3 stone. ANy suggestions please?

I know, I have followed the plan though, clearly need bigger portions. Yesterday I had a few too many calories. I would love some nuts.

count calories OR carbs - don't do both

Which would you advise Custardo? This plan is working for me in that I just don't comfort eat anymore and aren't hungry all the time like I normally are.

Todays meals are

smoked salmon and cream cheese with avocado.
omelette for lunch
anti pasti for dinner

yum Grin.

well i do low carbing. it suited me and i lost 4 stone. if that's any recommendation. it is a different mindset - no low fat, no fruit EEK! some Lcrs do eat nuts - but if your only allowed 4 nuts - i think whats the point - i want the bag!

we also have a low carb thread here
