thanks FT-think it may be a bit far for me tbh, its for a christmas present for dd instead of presents, so any ideas will be appreciated

Might help if you could say roughly where you live?

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 19:45:54

East Yorkshire

i thought about Alton Towers but not sure what it would be like

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 19:46:28

whoops sorry, i meant KT in my other postblush

"similar to lapland"

"i thought about alton towers"

Am I being thick ? How is Alton Towers like Lapland ?

I think if you want snow/wildlife/winterwonderland type break you will be best off going to Scotland

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 19:56:08

when i say lapland, i meant somewhere christmasy, and i thought alton towers may do something like a sleigh ride, meeting santa...etc

i want somewhere that will be classed as a christmas present for dd.

the day that KT posted would have been perfect, but would take 5 hours to get there.

KTeePee Mon 03-Sep-07 20:00:28

I'm sure there will be other places doing something similar closer to you. Agree that Scotland might be worth investigating (and would be more geographically similar to Lapland than Kent!)

tiredemma Mon 03-Sep-07 20:00:56

how cheap is cheap?

pointydog Mon 03-Sep-07 20:01:53

Check out Aviemore. They certainly used to do Santa and reindeer, christmassy sort of breaks.

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:04:33

whats aviemore? is it a company?

cheap as in very cheap it depends if its overnight or not, no more than a couple of hundred pounds for a day or 2.

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:05:33

i think scotland may be a bit far away too, i'll be on my own with a new baby and 7 year old, and knowing my luck the car will break down!

ja9 Mon 03-Sep-07 20:06:40

is aviemore a company? lol!!!

no, it's a town in north scotland.

sorry, rude to laugh. if i hadn't been there i probably wouldn't have heard of it either.

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:07:19

just googled it, should have done that first!blush

pointydog Mon 03-Sep-07 20:15:16

cairngorm reinseer centre in aviemore, scotland

here

oh you've found it

pointydog Mon 03-Sep-07 20:15:34

took me blardy ages

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:22:33

thanks pointydog

much appreciated, i think she's going to end up with more bratz dolls at this rate!

pointydog Mon 03-Sep-07 20:25:50

That's ok.

I reckon all Santa Christmas holidays will be rather expensive

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:29:09

your probably right, a day trip to the department store to wait 5 hours for a piece of plastic will be a lot cheaper i reckon

wanted to do something different rather than buy loads of rubbish, will have to have a think about it.

thanks for all your suggestions

PinkChick Mon 03-Sep-07 20:31:20

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:32:04

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:32:37

j20baby Mon 03-Sep-07 20:35:06
