How did you 'prep' for your wedding?

I'm not about to get married any time soon but I LOVE weddings. Besides the ceremony and honeymoon stuff, did anyone do a lot of 'beauty/fitness' prep? Besides toning up a bit, I can't really think what else could be done (and I'm sure there's a lot!), just looking for inspiration I guess.

P.S every bride I've ever seen has looked absolutely beautiful, whether the wedding was fancy or not. I just love reading about all the high maintenance stuff!

Gosh, you’d have been disappointed with mine!
My entire “prep” consisted of booking the day off work to go to the register office.
No make up, hairdo, fancy dress, guests, cake, reception, flowers or honeymoon. And back to work next morning for a 56 hour continuous shift as a junior doctor!
I’m autistic, and never wanted all the fuss and razzamataz of a big wedding.

Managed a bit of a suntan.
Made most of the food and did the flowers, apart from the bouquets.
Made up all the rooms for those staying with us.
Decorated the marquee.
On day had a bath, did my makeup and hair.

I had a hair trail and I think make up too but can't remember. Got my nails done. Didn't do anything fitness wise - I somehow managed to gain over a stone between engagement and wedding!

I had my hair put up and lost half a stone - no tan, no nails - only because I didn’t think of it - I got a bit upset on the day when my bridesmaids both turned up with beautiful manicures and I’d just whacked a bit of clear polish on.

I looked good in the pictures purely because I was young! Could have done with a damn sight more makeup and some highlights - but I didn’t do that stuff back then!

I’m still a million times lower maintenance than my friends as I’m the only one without injectables or some form of surgery!

I had a spray tan, lashes and mani pedi a few days before. Had my hair cut and coloured a week or two before. On the day had my hair and make up done. Had also been dieting and was fitter. It wasn’t a high maintenance wedding at all and I’m pleased with the pictures, I look like myself when I’ve been on holiday and had a rest and got a bit of a tan!

I'm not getting married until next year now (supposed to be next month but postponed) but I will be having a few sunbeds beforehand to get abit of a glow, hair cut and colour a week or so before, skincare routine is starting now so my skin is clear, I'm going to have my eyebrows shaped, eyelash extensions and finger and toenails gel polished. On the day I will be having my hair and make up done. I'm not usually high maintenance but since becoming a mum if find I dont do much with myself at all so I want to pamper myself abit before the big day

Thanks so much for all the replies, I have enjoyed reading them.

It's such a loaded event for women I think, to appear to be Perfect on this One Day To Rule Them All. My older sister had her curly hair loose, with minimal makeup and a short, black Prada dress at her registry wedding and she looked stunning. I think I need to stop caring about what other people think and just do stuff that I would enjoy anyway.

I’m generally really low maintenance, so I’m always a bit shocked by how much I did in the run up to the wedding.

I lost 3 and a half stone, and took up legs, bums, and tums classes, so I was the most toned I’ve ever been. I grew out my pixie into a long bob. I had my legs, bikini, and under arms waxed (more for honeymoon than the wedding itself). I got my eyebrows shaped, and my eyelashes tinted and curled. I had gel fingernails, and my hair styled.

Yet I still consider myself low maintenance because I did my own makeup and toe nails 😂
