Flowers - is this excessive?

Can anyone tell me if this seems excessive. How much did you pay for your flowers? I've had a quote for £290. This is for
1 x shower style bridal bouquet
1 x bridesmaid boquet
9 buttonholes
5 ladies corsage.
Thanks ladies !

A bridal bouquet alone would average £150 so o think that quote is ok, but definitely get more and ask for ideas to bring the cost down if that's what you need. Bouquets are expensive because they are wired and take a long time to make.

Seems cheap 👍

Fairly cheap I'd say. Apart from the bridesmaid's bouquet, everything should be wired and taped and that's a real skill. The bride's bouquet can be made using a foam holder depending on the flowers and foliage, but it will still need some elements wiring to ensure they stay put.

Thanks for the replies, I posted really because I'm sure I read another poster had been quoted £320 (I think it was) for a lot more than what I have asked for. I'm sure there was 3 or 4 bridesmaid boquets and a flower girl. Admittedly not as many buttonholes or corsage as me. I know it can depend on types of flowers etc. Anyhow I've gone with the florist. It is a very good florist and the one I always use. Theres only about 4 in the area, 1 is definitely a no go, 1 a bit out of the way, so I've gone with the one I know will not disappoint, and I wont be wondering if they'll be any good. Thanks ladies!

Looks about right to me for a typical wedding quote. If you're worried about cost though, why not get cheaper flowers? Ask about what's in season, that sort of thing. Or go local and don't say the fatal word "wedding" Wink

I paid quite a bit more, but also had flowers on tables. Sounds like good value.

Sounds quite cheap to me but that depends what flowers you are having in the bouquets. What are you going for?

There's no table flowers or anything. I showed the florist pictures of ones I liked and in my quote she has said it will include Rose's, hydrangeas, carnations etc and eucalyptus. Sounds like it's not too bad though Smile

I am never sure about flower corsages for ladies. The pins can ruin an expensive lovely material on a dress or jacket. Never mind not going with the outift. I would do some form of table decorations but flowers are expensive. There are other ways of decorating a table. Generally though, I think the price is ok.

We're paying £250 for:
6 buttonholes
1 bride bouquet
2 bridesmaid bouquet
1 arrangement for ceremony table (then moved to top table)
4 other arrangements

I think florist prices are area dependent. I'm in Lancashire and our florist is a one woman operation.

Mmm. I was quoted €120 for a bridal bouquet, 3 bridesmaids and five buttonholes. Last year, in the not cheap bit of the South of France. They were amazing. The hotel kept the bridesmaids ones out their reception all week afterwards.

Weddings are a complete racket over here ( they are less fussed in France).

@CurbsideProphet hmmm seems a bit expensive compared to your quote !! Given you're having 3 bouquets and table decorations. However, I realise this can depend on size, type of flowers etc, and mine will be a larger boquet. I'm also Lancashire!!.

@BubblesBuddy - the men in the bridal party are all having the same buttonholes, I have ordered the corsages for their wives / girlfriends etc so they don't have to faff sorting them in the morning. Or ordering just 1 from a florist. Some of the ladies are helping me get ready in the morning too so I thought it would be a nice gesture. They don't have to wear them if they don't want to, I wont be enforcing it. They're ivory roses (which are also in my boquets) with foliage so I think they would go with most outfits if they choose to wear them. I'm not having a wedding breakfast so dont need expensive table centerpieces. I'm decorating my venue with balloons and a very simple artificial flower centerpiece on every other table I found by googling online. It will cost me £20 to make 6, a lot less than the florist. Although probably not if I could have @curbsidephtophets' florist ha ha !! I know it's not everyone's style but we're having a less formal and more relaxed celebration.
