Would you change your wedding date to get the hairdressers you wanted?

My friend is a mobile hairdresser and she's a very talented one at that. I had a few friends 'round for wine last night and my hairdresser friend was one of them. She was telling us how busy she is with weddings this summer and then proceeded to tell us about a regular client who contacted her to book her in for her wedding. My hairdresser friend is unfortunately booked in to do another wedding on that date and apologised. What she didn't expect was for the bride to contact her again the following week to say she'd moved her wedding date a week later and asked if she was available then. My hairdresser friend was a little taken aback and flattered and said she was available and booked her in. Would you/have you changed for similar reasons?

No. That’s really odd.

No, but my wedding date is sentimental to us. If it was just a random date that the venue had free, then I probably would, I love my hairdresser and it'd be less stressful for me than finding someone else to tame my hair!

I would question whether that was actually true

No, but then I did my own hair!

But there must have been a different reason for moving the wedding date, or what would have been the point of moving it without checking whether she was available first? Confused

No but I didn’t have a hairdresser. I did my own.

There is no way that a person has been daft enough to change their wedding date simply for a hairdresser, no matter how good she is. For a band I would believe but this story sounds ridiculous. She didn't even confirm the friend was available before rearranging what if she had been booked for the following week also?

Why not? If you're just picking any random date 12-24 months in the future kind of thing, I'd change the date to ensure something I wanted. My friend changed her dates from Saturday to the Friday because both hair and makeup were booked up in the tiny little village her wedding is in.

Perhaps the hair dresser told her "Sorry, can't do X, I'm booked up, only have Y or Z free". That's what my friend's told her and why I'm now stuck going to a Friday wedding.

If everything was moveable, yes I would, but I guess I would also make sure she would be available well in advance of securing a date. I have had the same hairdresser since I was a child, she's the only person I trust to look after my hair, and I will absolutely want her for my wedding.

I would. My hairdresser was a close friend and I’d have been really upset having someone else.

I wouldn't believe the hairdresser at all. Although it may be that the plan was to get married on a certain date bu nothing had been booked so they decided to change the date, once it's booked and in the organising stage, no way.

No, but that's because it was stressful making sure we could get a slot with the registrar for the day we had booked the venue. I'm impressed she could move everything without any problems!

I can believe this story, only because I’ve known a couple who changed their wedding to the following week because of the release of an Avengers movie.

I have annoying / stupid / difficult hair so l can see the temptation if the hairdresser could sort my hair out nicely.

I did! Moved wedding out 1 day as my hairdresser (and witness too, we eloped) was on holiday.
