Can I have your ideas for a just the 2 of us wedding anywhere

We're thinking about going away somewhere to get married, just us, possibly not even the kids.
I already came with 2 DCs so it would be nice for us to have some couple time and make some nice memories together. We've never been anywhere without them so we don't have a special place as such.

We aren't hot weather people so the obvious package holiday with a beach ceremony thrown in wouldn't be for us. We're open to anything really but would like something a little out of the ordinary either UK or abroad. In an ideal world I'd like a biggish but not white dress, a photographer (because we never have photos taken) and possibly a video of it to look back on but that's it.

Would love some ideas. Budget wise we could probably save around £5k in the next year for it including the holiday itself but we don't need 5 star or anything.

I'd go to Iceland and tie the knot by a glacier. Those photos would be stunning.

Wld cost an arm and a leg, though.

Rule 1 of elopement: say nothing to anyone! (Apart from us of course!)

How about Lake Bled in Slovenia which so beautiful. Or one of the Italian Lakes?

I'll second Millbrook in Devon. It's beautiful, you stay onsite, witnesses are supplied and they have a list of suppliers that will help you find the right photographer, florist etc. Organising it is a breeze and the summerhouse where the ceremonies are held is just lovely. It can be as big or small as you want it. Good luck!

Millbrook looks beautiful! They have a larger cottage where children are welcome too so that definitely worth looking at

I know someone who recently got married in New York. As far as I know they told everyone they were just going there on holiday for a few days. They got photos taken in their wedding outfits in Central Park etc. Looked lovely!

Crear wee weddings in Scotland. You can have the cottage which sleeps up to six people. Day 1 arrival, day 2 ceremony usually on the beach, day 3 departure. Throw in a trip to Inveraray and it’s a great trip.

Ah actually you probably need to go somewhere where you can be legally married there and then. Italy is good and the US.

Denmark, there is a beautiful little island where there is a wedding agency specialising in in small intimate weddings for people who want to do a 'Vegas' in Europe. Fairytale houses and fantastic food from local grown produce. Very romantic!

Just asking how old your children are? If they are still young please would you consider taking them. Mine were so upset when there DF remarried without them. It was so hard to deal with three crying DC's, who wouldn't leave my side, who couldn't sleep and especially the comment from one of them aged 6, "we're second best aren't we mummy".
