Start using Mumsnet PremiumHow much ‘haggling’ Have you done with suppliers?
(3 Posts)I’ve found a photographer I really like, available for my dates. She charges £1200 for the day, and recommends that we have a second shooter for another £300 since it’s quite a big wedding.
In that package she also includes an engagement shoot. Would it be reasonable to ask for a discount if we skip this?
I haven’t haggled at all. I’m shit at haggling anyway
I haggled everything. I’d say I paid half the original price for nearly everything. But I did things a bit differently in order to get things discounted like bought flowers wholesale and DIY’ed (80% saving), had a buffet bbq usually for the post wedding session at our reception instead of 4 course meal (50% saving), got external supplier for hog roast that night (much cheaper than the venues ‘afters’ food), found my dress then searched everywhere for lowest price and haggled (30% cheaper). Etc etc
