Booked a cottage in Uk for a weeks honeymoon.
It's a lovely cottage with nice big double ended bath perfect for sharing a few glasses of an evening.
It wasn't cheap at just under £900 for the week and this is end of November in an area where attractions are closed.
Not a problem for us as we planned on mostly stocking up on provisions and lazing about in a nice cottage after the craziness of wedding planning.
Only problem was the information provided by the owner on how to boost the hot water didn't work.
Each day we would wake up with enough hot water for us to shower, we would boost the system as instructed and this was meant to give enough hot water for the evening.
Only it didn't work.
We tried each day until 4 days in I emailed the owner and explained we were struggling and I was looking forward to a bath.
Responses were slow and unhelpful and mostly just said how they didn't know what it could be and they've never had that problem before.
We try again for the next few days and then feeling very fed up with the lack of help and lack of bath we pack up early and come home, letting the owner know.
I'm wondering if I am being unreasonable in expecting better standard for such an expensive place?
There were other minor issues. We had gone away with our 18 month old child and the place had no microwave, and no washing machine. We managed around those, as it was just something we assumed a child friendly cottage at that price level would have.
The owner has offered us a £50 good Will gesture refund, which is better than nothing but it's felt like a bit of a slog just to get that offered to us.
I feel quite despondent and hard done by, should I expect better for a honeymoon or chalk it up and just accept it was a bit rubbish ?
