It seems impossible too find a non-cheesy band available to hire - does anyone have any recommendations at all please? Based near London.

I have scoured the band hire sites and they all seem the same and I don't know why!! Am desperate to find something NON-cheesy only! So i.e NO Bruno Mars covers, Uptown Funk, and naff singing. No Mumford and Sons style bands either. Happy to have elements of pop, rock, funk, soul, R&B, and also electronic / sampling. Most guests are in their 20's.

Anyone??? Confused Confused

These guys did ours. I was really nervous about cheese but explained to them in advance, sent them a sample of our favourites from their set list and didn’t hear an Ed Sheeran track all night Wink

They also didn’t bat an eyelid at our disco playlist, crafted by me, which included a late night wedding rave to Smack My Bitch Up...

And they really engaged our guests, most importantly! I’m such a music snob and toyed with doing it myself but they packed our dance floor and I’m so glad we decided to shell out for it - everyone was really complimentary.

Most wedding bands will have a huge repertoire from across different eras and styles. DH is the singer in a band and does weddings. They discuss the music style with the bride and groom and play from an agreed set list, but you probably wouldn't get that from their website. They are happy to learn first dance choices if they are not on their list (recently he had to learn Annie's Song for a wedding Hmm) You are better off calling a few rather than asking here as everyone's idea of their perfect sound is different.

I'm not offering my DH's band though, from a band (and their family) pov weddings are the biggest ballache.

Thanks Dolly, I will check them out.

Thanks Stark, but I think it is the sound as well that makes them cheesy (as well as the repertoire), so I am really looking for that also and so far haven't sound one on any of the band sites. Good advice about talking to them and I will try and do that once I've found one I like the sound of. Your DH's band sound great!

The best wedding band I've ever seen was a ska tribute band. It was so much fun and had EVERYONE dancing. I don't have any recommendations I'm afraid but honestly they were brilliant.

Yes they were fantastic! They did a mini set for each era so the night started with 50/60s for the oldies before they head off home to bed early then works it's way through the decades, they ended with modern but covered 90s dance, 2000s RnB and they walked amongst the crowd singing and giving the mic to guests if they knew bits of the raps! Best band I'd ever seen at a wedding

We had XS Show and honestly they could not have been better.

Woman-owned by a local Essex girl. They pleased everyone at our large and diverse age/culture wedding!

I've seen Truly Medley Deeply perform at two of my friend's weddings. First time they were amazing - really good voices, got everyone on the dancefloor. Second time, I was less convinced by the guys voices. Seems they have a few different people in the band so I guess it depends on the night. Anyway, just my personal review! I'm looking for a band now for my own wedding and really struggling!

They also do regular gigs in London too so we went to see them at old street records, just to check
