Suggestions for a non traditional wedding dress for curvy bride

Hey guys,
Getting married soon and am really struggling to find a dress. I don't want a traditional white puffy dress but it needs to be something super fabulous and glam and hopefully make me look like a million dollards ;) I am very curvy (and not particularly tall) and frankly don't even know where to start!
Any ideas gratefully received. Thanks in advance.

Do you not want any sort of bridal gown or is it just the big princess dress shape?

I think your best bet is some sort of actual wedding dress. There's thousands to choose from and they are designed to look a bit better than normal dresses and be adjusted etc.
I don't know what you mean by curvy but I have seen plenty of fat apple shapes look amazing in a fitted mermaid dress.

Lots of people go for the short (tea length) ones... I personally think that they're not particularly flattering...

It's hard to explain when I don't know exactly what I want but I've looked at and tried on dozens of "wedding" dresses in the shops and I just don't like any of them for me. They're too white and weddingy.
That sounds so stupid, doesn't it? At the same time, I want to feel glamorous and wear a dress I would never wear in normal life.

So far, the only dress I've even recently seen and thought "ooooh" about is this
www.bombshellhq.com/products/10th-anniversary-gold-sequin-bombshell-dress-1
but whilst I don't want traditional white... gold, black or navy aren't right either!!
I'm rather picky, aren't I?

Curvy wise, I have a proper hour glass with very big boobs but not very tall if that helps? Proper wedding dresses just don't seem to work with that.

Thanks for that Maggie dress, a bit wedding goth for me :)

Sorry for being so utterly rubbish!

Ah ok. I just posted that one because the shape looked quite flattering as a size 24.There are 3 pages of 22+ size dresses and it's handy to see what real brides look like in a dress.

I can see it being tricky with big boobs though. I'm sure you'll find something wow though.

Makes SUCH a difference to see them on real women!

You could have a colour? My gran got married in pale blue velvet (but then it was the 60s)

I'm up for colour - just still struggling to find the right one.
Your gran sounds awesome! I bet that looked fabulous!

It’s only recently that people have started wearing big fancy dresses - lots of my friends & I wore suits/sundresses/simple dresses in the 1990s. We didn’t want to do the Princess Diana over the top thing so went the other way. Red dresses, navy dresses whatever, it’s only a dress you aren’t going to wear very much.

she's.... "non-traditional" lol. One of her closest friends got married in a minidress - that was really awesome!

I love that gold btw... I think if I wasn't wearing white (well ivory) I'd have liked something like that.

When/where are you getting married? Weather/temperature could affect your choice!

Don't know what your budget is, but have a look at the Couture Company, they're in Birmingham and they're fabulous. Well worth traveling if you can.

They made me an amazing blue wedding dress. Their Instagram feed gives a great idea of their work.

That gold dress is amazing. Someone I know got married recently and her mother wore very similar as her MOB dress. She is curvy and not very tall and looked amazing. BMs wore an almost blush/taupe colour. It all looked very sophisticated

Do you own any dresses you think are particularly flattering on you? Maybe have something made using that as a pattern in the fabric of your choice.

I would highly recommend joining the 'Rock & Roll Bride' Facebook group. If you post on there you'll get loads of suggestions! There's not many traditional wedding dresses going on in there, and it's great. I'm not having a very traditional dress either. I am making it myself! It's a satin slip dress with a lace kimono type dress over the top with fringing down the front slit and along the bottom. Sounds weird but it's going to be ace.

Hey guys. Just wanted to come back to this and say thank you so much for all your help and suggestions.
I can’t get that gold Bombshell dress out of my head, so I think I’m just going to have to take the plunge and get it. Right?!

Keep looking. You'll find it in silver and be blown away.
It is gorgeous but if there's something you aren't sure about keep going!
bespoke 50s style putting this here because I'd googled it before your update. Not what you are after I suspect.
