London Wedding Venues

Can anyone recommend any good wedding venues in London that aren't crazily expensive? We want a non-religious ceremony, doesn't have to be super central, but ideally we want somewhere with plenty of charm that won't cost the moon.

Any help - or suggestions of sites we could use to search, would be great. I've tried hitched.co.uk already and not found it super useful...

Thanks!

Charlton house is beautiful. As it’s owned by Greenwich council it’s not too bad ... depends where in London you are

I know someone who had their reception at Hampton Court Palace and told me it was less expensive than many if the other options they had looked at. You can have the ceremony there too.

There are so many places in London, it's a bit hard to know where to start, North/South/East/West ?? All in one venue, or would registry office plus reception nearby also be OK?

Hampton Court Palace?! Really?

We live NE London, but quite a lot of our friends and family will be travelling from elsewhere in the UK and abroad to attend, so our feeling is it doesn't matter too much where the venue is since a lot of our guests will be staying in hotels anyway.

Ideally, we'd like to combine the ceremony and reception in one venue to make life easier...

You'd better look it up - it was about 4 years ago and their pricing might have changed. I remember thinking at the time 'how posh' but they said it was less than the (west) London hotels they looked at (reception only, their actual wedding was in a church). Any it was a couple I knew well enough to ask impertinent questions of, and get a reasonably accurate reply!

What is your budget for venue hire? Both hoped for and absolute ceiling?

Look on the borough websites as they have lists of registered places to marry. We got married in Toynbee Hall but it looks like they don't do it now (might be worth enquiring anyway).

We're getting married at a registry office and then the Wharf for the reception in Teddington so wrong side of London but it's quite reasonable

We got married at Dickens Inn on St. Katherine Dock, it was beautiful and not too expensive considering the location

are you looking for somewhere to get married, or somewhere to get married and then have a reception?

Thanks for all the recommendations guys!

I've had a quick look at some of these spots and they do look good - The Orangery might be fave so far... although I notice there's no price listed for the venue hire on the site, so I'm not sure we could afford it.

We don't want to spend much more than £1500 on the venue itself - ideally having the ceremony and reception in the same place.

For anyone else looking, I've found that if you search for 'affordable wedding venues', there are quite a few sites that show you the venue prices as well:

With a £1500 budget for venue hire I suspect Kew Gardens will be out of your budget (i looked there). I found most websites if you just clicked for brochure it was either online or you fill in a form and they send it to you. I have no recommendations unfortunately as everywhere in London/Surrey/Berkshire/Hampshire was all very expensive
