Start using Mumsnet Premiumcake cost?
(3 Posts)hiya,
I've been asked to make a cake for a friend of a friend, but i have no idea what to charge! would anyone mind telling my how much they are spending? it's for 100ppl and is a sponge 3 tier w/ butter cream & fresh flowers.
based in london if that makes a difference.
thanks in advance.
Work out how much all the ingredients are going to cost you and how long you think it’ll take you to make. You need to charge enough to cover your costs plus a reasonable amount for your time.
Don’t forget to factor in the cost of the dowel rods, cake bases, ribbons and anything else you think you’ll need to use.
Have you ever made a similar cake before? And do you have the correct sized cake tins, or will you need to buy/hire/borrow them?
Look on M&S website to see what their prices are like for similar sized cakes. I think that’s as cheap as anyone will get for a shop bought cake so that might help you as a starting point.
