Where did you get your engagement rings from?

Just that really. My boyfriend and I have been talking about making it official for a while (we have been together for a long time so there's going to be no surprise romantic proposal) . We've done some initial research and it looks like you can get more ring for your money online (and possibly on the Birmingham jewellery quarter). I wondered where you had bought your rings from and if you had any good/ bad experiences or any recommendations.
We are on a tight budget because our house needs a ton of work doing to it.

G H Moore & Son in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. Fantastic company, everything came with full documentation, we could design it ourselves and they took the time to go through everything to ensure that they understood. It was £250 cheaper than it should have been elsewhere from a smaller business. My husband thought they did such a good job he got his wedding ring there.

Good luck with your search!

Birmingham jewellery quarter is amazing. So many shops, so much choice - and grwat value. We got mine from diamond heaven but there were loads of good shops.

Diamond Heaven. It's a really beautiful ring, has had lots of compliments, and from the googling we did before buying it seemed like a really good deal as well. We went into one of their shops though, we didn't do it all online. I think it's important to actually see the stone in real life before you decide p.

I think it is so worthwhile going to look at rings/stones in person - even going by the stats (colour, cut, clarity, carat) they vary massively.

Found what I wanted on beaverbrooks website, but it cost £1300!
Set up an eBay search alert for "beaverbrooks diamond ring", and in about 3 months two of them came up
When the second one popped up, dp got it for £360, nearly a quarter of the price new!
it's probably only worth that anyway!

I had my engagement ring made using the stones from my mums ring.
However for my wedding ring I used the beautiful company online and it’s great.
My wedding ring is obviously plain but they also sell lovely looking engagement rings.

Mine came from Diamond Heaven too. We paid about 50% less than usual high street prices. I highly recommend them, and given they’re both online and based in the Birmingham jeweller quarter they cover both your tipsSmile

We ordered online but spoke to them on the phone several times and they were incredibly helpful.

I got mine from Etsy. It's gorgeous. Jewellers were so pushy it put us right off :(

Ernest Jones. My DP and I were out shopping on Christmas Eve and as a long standing joke between us I have asked for diamonds every year when he asks what I want for Christmas. So we were nearly done and we both had to do a couple of last bits separately and he’d meet me at the car. I said to him how long do you need to go to Ernest Jones and get a diamond ring, little did I know that was exactly what he was going to do! This was 6 years ago and we are finally getting married in May.

Local jeweller, also supplied our wedding rings and my eternity ring.

I loved the personal service, even now (18yrs later) when we see him in the street he stops to speak to us and asks how our rings are!

There's a lot to be said for finding this kind of personal service over a big well known chain Smile

MiffedMummy virtual fist pump- that is where mine came from, GH Moore are brilliant. They made both my Engagement and Eternity rings from stones we already had. They have made a couple of pieces for my DM too, which are beautiful.

The shop front doesn't look as showy as some of the others but they are great to deal with and very reasonable.

Etsy here too, but I had a really specific idea of what I wanted and it just so happened a lady on Etsy in the States made exactly the thing I was after. €500 for wedding and engagement ring set. Had a nightmare getting them through customs, though.

Also Diamond Factory but we actually went to their showroom in Hatton Garden to try/see rings rather than just ordering online. It cost about half what the same ring would have in a high street jewellers

77 Diamonds, which is online. You pick the setting and then you buy the individual stone and they make it to your size. We paid £2300 and it was valued immediately (and insured for) £3800.
