Start using Mumsnet PremiumHow much would you buy a second hand wedding dress for?
(10 Posts)I've seen a lovely dress and it costs £500 to buy new but I've seen someone selling it secondhand good condition and in the correct size.
How much would you offer for it?
Anyone?
It depends on the condition to be honest. Maybe £200?
I bought a second hand dress for about £280 - it was originally £595 and was in fab condition and had been dry cleaned and came with the original garment bag!
I would say 40% of original value
I’d offer what you want to pay for it. If you miss is for the sake of £50 for instance, would you be gutted and keep revisiting it and kicking yourself? It often depends on what something means to me as to how much I bid.
I think to sell a dress for £200 when you bought it for £500 is actually a pretty good deal. For both the seller and buyer.
I bought mine second hand for £400 - was around £1000 new so 40% pretty much! Perfect condition.
I'd say about 40% but this depends on dry cleaning as that can be bloody expensive for wedding dresses. My heavily beaded (this means mega cleaning bucks) wedding dress is still covered in mud and has been in the cupboard for over three years now . I bought mine second hand for about a third of the price but it was a sample and I spent about 15 hours sewing beads back on.
I paid 2/3 of original price. It was unworn and unaltered and very expensive to start with.
