I 'chose' a dress on Saturday, but I had an appointment at a different boutique today and because I like to make life difficult for myself, I went along.

And of course I fell head over heels in love with not one, but two beautiful dresses. I need a few completely objective opinions! If it helps, I'm 5ft 5-6 but will be in heels, size 8-10 with big boobs, long dark hair, fair skin.

Dress 1

Pros- lovely swishy skirt, I wanted something with a bit of swing and sway when when I walk. Nice thick beaded waistband which, with the cut of the bodice showed my figure off nicely.

Cons- exposes back fat, and cut quite low at the front (I have big boobs). Would have to have my hair up and my hairline on the nape of my neck is quite ugly. Needs an underskirt to give it a bit more of an a-line shape

Special something- lovely keyhole back and beading across the shoulders

Cost- £1180 (before alterations) and extra £80 to have buttons all the way down the skirt

Dress 2

Pros- beautiful elegant, classic style, makes my waist look tiny, fits really nicely across the bust. Cut low at the back so I can have my hair down. Lovely big (but not too princess-y) skirt with a gorgeous train.

Cons- more of a ball gown so less movement in the skirt. Nothing really 'different' about the actual style. Would have to buy a beaded belt separately. Could look a bit OTT at the reception venue which has quite a relaxed, fun vibe.

Special something- really gorgeous blush colour and buttons all the way down the back.

Cost- £1899 for a new one, or I could get the (size 14) sample I tried today for £895.

Dress 3

Pros- swishy skirt again, covers boobs without looking conservative or matronly. Back is covered but fabric under beading is sheer so you can still see my skin.

Cons- cut across the shoulders so arm movement would be a bit restricted. Beading would catch on the veil and other people's clothes. Would have to have hair up.

Special something- that gorgeous beading, catches the light and twinkles whichever way you look at it. Sparkly without making me look like a Christmas decoration.

Cost- £1580.

So... any thoughts?

1 is beautiful, exactly the type of style I would personally go for.

Some things to think about
- which makes you feel excited? Not just makes you feel beautiful?
- which will still look good when you look back on wedding photos in 30 years?

I love 1 and 3, 2 isn't so beautiful. I would have 1 for myself but 3 may be more flattering to your body.

In order
2 - I don't like this one at all.

wowwee123 Mon 14-Nov-16 21:54:00

2 had the wow factor for me. 3 is a ckose 2nd.

not sure how old you are but 1 looks mature.

IcaMorgan Mon 14-Nov-16 21:54:10

Prefer the 2nd to the 1st even though I don't normally like blush. The pictures aren't loading for the 3rd one so I can't comment on that one

hootatoot Mon 14-Nov-16 21:54:23

3 is beautiful! 2 is forgettable. The back of 1 is stunning but the front doesn't quite match up to it unfortunately.

doubletrouble41 Mon 14-Nov-16 21:55:48

I love the simplicity of 2, its timeless and gorgeous x they are all lovely though.

Sinkingfeeling Mon 14-Nov-16 21:55:50

I love 3!

MrsLettuce Mon 14-Nov-16 21:56:00

Dress #3 is by far the most beautiful. You'd (surely?) not want a lace or lace edged veil with it anyway so catching shouldn't be a problem. No need to expose the hairline on the nape of your neck if you don't want to, plenty of lovely styles that'd work really well.

daisydalrymple Mon 14-Nov-16 21:56:34

1 without a doubt. However, if you've only tried all of them on once, then you probably need a second try to see how you feel on reflection. (Am impressed by your thoroughness in your pros and cons grin)

johendy Mon 14-Nov-16 21:56:41

3 is definitely my favourite. But who cares what I think. Which one do you get most excited about picturing yourself getting married in?

Fingermoose Mon 14-Nov-16 21:57:09

I think Dress 2 is a little boring (and is strapless a good idea if you're a bit booby?) Dress 1 is pretty and I love the back (it's what people will see during the ceremony) but Dress 3 is beautiful! Really really stunning. I probably wouldn't have a veil though, sorry. And if it's not comfortable that's not good when you'll have it on for a long time. Not much help there...

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
I would definitely choose number 3. It's beautiful, classy and timeless. Am sure you will look back in years to come and be really, really happy with it. Number 2 would be too revealing and I imagine everyone will be distracted by your amazing boobs. It just shows too much flesh IMO. Number 1 - your mention of back fat made me dismiss this right away! Let us know what you decide!

LordRothermereBlackshirtCunt Mon 14-Nov-16 21:57:41

Exactly the same as NapQueen - 3, followed by 1, don't like 2 (find it too dull).

Re. Back fat - I'm sure you have negligible back fat if you're size 8-10!

MummaGiles Mon 14-Nov-16 21:58:26

its hard to say when we haven't seen them on you. I know which I like but I don't want to say. It's your wedding and in your heart you know which one you want, there's just a reason you won't admit it to yourself. Cost? Other people's expectations?

Write all three on a bit of paper, pull one of the three out of a hat. That's your dress. How do you feel? You'll know if you're happy or disappointed because you've pulled the right/wrong dress out.

amroc18 Mon 14-Nov-16 21:58:42

3 is my fave. Also reckon it's the easiest to wear a strapless bra without having issues with showing at the back. Good luck!

Waltermittythesequel Mon 14-Nov-16 21:59:01

3 or 1.

Will 3 look ok with big boobs?

missmeg3leg Mon 14-Nov-16 21:59:39

No3 all the way!...stunning....

ClaraLane Mon 14-Nov-16 21:59:54

3! The colour of 2 is gorgeous but the rest of it is pretty meh and although 1 is nice it's nowhere near as lovely as 3.

TeamFinn Mon 14-Nov-16 22:00:41

I love 3 and 1 but maybe 3 a teeny bit more. Thought 2 was a bit plain.

Muddlingalongalone Mon 14-Nov-16 22:00:57

No 1 for me, don't like 2 at all & 3 is practically the same as every wedding dress I've seen on fb this summer & a couple of celebs too.

WanderingNotLost Mon 14-Nov-16 22:02:15

I love them all for all the reasons I've said really... in the case of 1 (which was the one I'd initially picked) and 2 I specifically went to each boutique to try on those dresses as they were the only places that had them- neither is particularly close to where I live! Then spotted dress 3 while looking at the website of the boutique I went to today to try dress 2.

I tried a veil today that looked gorgeous with both dress 2 and 3- a cathedral style veil with tiny beads right on the edge, but otherwise plan. But it did catch on the beading of dress 3.

I think if dress 2 had been a more typically bridal colour I'd have been less excited about it- in fact I did try an almost identical one in white today- but the blush colour just looked so beautiful!

Oh- and I'm 31 but have quite a young face...
