My partner and I love the song "nothing's gonna change my love for you" by glen medeiros. We had decided on this for our first dance but everyone I've mentioned it to has laughed hysterically lol! Is it a REALLY bad choice?? Grin

Personally I wouldn't choose it as it's quite cheesy but it's your wedding so sod them. It is a wicked singalong song Grin

That's the thing we know it's mega cheesy that's why we love it! I just wondered if I was missing something and it was just completely laughable as opposed to cheesy lol x

Ahhh well in that case definitely go for it. Have you explained you love it for its gloriously cheesy self? Maybe they are laughing because they don't realise that's why you like it or perhaps they don't think you are being serious?
Definitely not a bad choice

I love it. Will be singing it all night now.
Or Suddenly from scott and charlene's wedding on neighbours.

The last few weddings I've been to have had really boring first dance songs (like Ellie Goulding's how long will I love you. Boring)

That song reminds me of snogging the lad from the funfair at Butlins in the '80s.

Embrace the cheesiness - make a theme of it :-)

We had elvis 'can't help falling in love with you', we double checked with the dj that he definitely had it... He forgot to tell us he only had a live version, in which elvis sounds totally pissed! We laughed all the way through it, people got some great pics Grin

I suggested it to dh for hours it was met with Hmm we e dead up with Florence against the machine you got the love and thankfully the dh's wife did double check beforehand he hadn't selected the candy Stanton version by mistake.

I've always wished we'd had Happy Together by The Turtles. DH and I absolutely love singing that to each other.

People will love hearing yours on the day. Go for it!

That's an amazing choice! So cheesy in a good way!
Me and DP are having 'bird house in your soul' by 'they might be giants' Blush

Weird, that's the second time this song has cropped up today! I love it, reminds me of the summer I was 8.

Glad a lot of you like it! Luckily both me and my partner love cheesy music and love the song. Until this thread it seemed like we were the only ones that did lol x

You can't whack a bit of Medeiros. I wholeheartedly approve.

My sister wants power of love by jenifer rush. She also wants smoke, a wind machine, pyrotechnics and doves released... she's very much embracing the power ballad cliché. I think it will be hilarious and therefore very very memorable.

I went to a wedding where the couples song was Lighthouse Family so your choice makes perfect sense.
