Ok so after looking at the figures I don't think I can afford the dress I want. Here-

Can anyone help me find something similar?
(I am utterly gutted)

It's beautiful! If it is the one, would you consider something second hand or an ex sample? Keep googling the name and sample and you may find a small boutique selling it on, or theres lots of forums like Rock My Wedding have brides selling on their dresses.

I know!
Yep I'm googling it most days to see if it comes up second hand anywhere.
I really want that dress damn it! Going to another bridal shop at the weekend to see if I can find anything else :(

I just bought my dress. I had been in love with it for months! It was £2400 originally and I was finding it hard to justify it. When I expressed this to the sales assistant she suggested buying the sample and I would get a third off so I got it for £1600! Grin The dress is immaculate (no marks at all) but will be dry cleanedand just one minor repair needed.

Don't know what your budget is but I'd assume that a third off must be standard for samples. Why don't you see which shops have got it and ask them?

Thank you for this info! The tag in the shop said £1,770. I just assumed that was the price? The sample in that shop was 2 sizes too big :(

Puddlelane, you can also haggle. My dress (jenny packham, dress of dreams!) Was about 1700, I called around local stockists to see who would do me the best deal, got 10% off, free alterations and 50 quid voucher towards accessories.

If you feel confident enough it's well worth haggling a bit and playing them off against each other!

Good luck!

Also not sure if it is anywhere local to you but in Berkshire there is a wonderful woman www.berkshire-brides.co.uk who stocks and sells sample dresses. She may be worth a call if she is anywhere nearby to you!

I just called the Berkshire brides lady she doesn't stock that designer sadly. I've looked through what she has designer wise online and I like nothing! Argh, everything about this wedding has been such hard work!

They can take dresses in by two dress sizes and even if you ordered one in in the exact size you are, chance are it would still require some fitting. The one I'm getting fits me perfectly just now but I'm hoping by the time of the wedding it'll need taken in by those two dress sizes Grin

Now that is very interesting! I will see what they say. I'm a coward so I will call them to find out if they will sell sample dresses.

All sorted! Got a practically identical dress for over £1000 just by going to different in a slightly less prestigious area!
