Flooding a distinct possibilty on Saturday

Started a new thread for Saturday because it is a different hazard!

With heavy rain expected on Saturday the met office have early advisories out for many parts here

heavy rain, melting snow, blocked drains. not good. Also very very slippery for a time falling onto any ice.

If you do have a chance, you can perhaps help a bit by clearing out drains, both your own and perhaps if you are civic minded the ones along your road if they are bloked with snow. Just poke them with a stick! (and perhaps shovel any built up stuff away) That is not official advice of course and I accept no liability for people having accidents poking drains with sticks

Thanks for the warning. The end of our workshop is built almost into a bank, and although we've dug it out, water still collects there and can pour through the wall if we don't unblock the drainage trench.I'll go and poke it after lunch.

gah! some indications perhaps that this may be a snow or freezing rain event for some in the east, particularly further north.
not going to be a simple thaw out this one (nor a long one quite possibly)
