Not exactly flaming June so far.

Lots of water to come out of the sky. Yesterday proved to be very dramatic in parts of south Wales and the SW. Let's hope that it's not quite so dramatic for the east. Though it does need the rain.

Needed some rain, but would have been nice to have a few weeks of sunshine.

After last years glorious start it all seems a bit gloomy this year so far.

My phone has just gone mad with rain warnings for the next couple of days.

Looks like the shortage in rain over the last however many months is going to be made up for.

It's quite bright here at the moment but rain's due from 10am and then it looks like it's going to be a miserable couple of days.

Are we going to get a summer this year? ☹️

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/06/2019 07:45

It's still early, like judging a winter on what happens in November :)

This week though. Wow. There is a lot of rain to come. Perhaps double or more the average June rainfall in just one week. The one saving grace is that most days the placement of the intense rainfall is slightly different from the previous day. While this shares the misery around, it could help lessen the impact.

Unusually, the rainfall will be travelling along east to west.

I think there maybe more warnings released for the weekend unfortunately.

Some of my flowers were flattened during the recent rain. I spent yesterday picking up rose petals and dead heading the many broken flower stalks.

The posters on the summer haters thread are loving this weather. I would just like to be able to go outside and not have to layer up. I want to crack out my summer clothes and wear sandals, but it looks like this won't be happening anytime soon Sad

Ironically, I think warnings are needed for middle (central) England this week as well as the areas that are showing presently.

The radio forecast was suggesting a month's worth of rain today, for the SE.
Blue skies in Edinburgh, but we've more than made up for the lack of rain over winter and spring, in the last couple of weeks.

I'm sure we can compromise with the summer haters! Some rain at night clearing to blue skies and temps in the low 20s?

My prize and joy teasel plants are wonky after all the rain and wind at the weekend.

The rain will play havoc with my laundry routine this week.

All our barley has gone flat which will be fun come harvest time, beautiful fields with swaying corn now look like they've been steam rollered 🙁

However we desperately need the rain - we were fencing at the weekend and the soil is bone dry about 2 foot down 😮

The (almost) 4yo has asked to make something today. I think an Ark might be a good bet

OYBBK yes, I was looking at the warnings last night & was quite surprised my area hasn’t got one as all the forecasts seem to be suggesting a lot for us too as well as loads falling upstream.

I'm so disappointed about this weather. I've lost a load of weight and last summer was my first, since my teenage years, of not being a sweaty, covered up mess. I have so many lovely summery clothes to wear but I'm still in bloody jeans and long sleeved tops!

I have cut the peonies in the garden in preparation for the onslaught.

For once quite sunny in Scotland. Rain later though.

Such a pretty garden Lizzie

It’s nice here currently so I’ve put my washing out in the hopes it will be 90% dry by the time the rain starts.

I'm trying to be glad for the garden but I would love some sandal weather! Definitely happiest in bare feet.
My 3 year old described the noise of the rain this morning as 'thundering and louding ' GrinGrin. My new favourite phrase!

Peonies look particularly sad after heavy rain don't they TheGonnagle.

I feel guilty at having to use my tumble dryer so much, but without it I wouldn't get my washing dry.

I'm gardening today at work, been in the poly tunnel most of the morning. Looks like rain will get worse later this afternoon.
