Potentially quite stormy on Wednesday

Models are struggling to get a handle on things, but wednesday looks at the very least wet and blowy and potentially rather more than that, especially in the NW.

A deep low looks set to skirt us to the west and some models have been developing a tight little secondary low over us as it passes by. No met office warnings out yet, but one to watch.

Thanks. Twas a bit windy on the way back from shopping but nothing like some of the other squall lines that have gone through here.

Sun's out now smile

Blackeyed ~ It was all a bit of a very 'damp squib' in the end. A bit blustery, quick burst of rain and that was it! I think we ended up being at the top of the squall line, where it had disintegrated into a 'splodge.'
Not very exciting at all sad

BlackeyedGruesome Thu 29-Nov-18 12:14:03

Have I just slept through it? Yes I was asleep this morning. Is it with you Gloria? I can work it out from there.

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 29-Nov-18 11:51:35

You can see breaks quite nicely in the line...

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 29-Nov-18 11:49:29

Often the most interesting weather occurs where a squall line breaks a little and one part moves just slightly ahead of another iyswim. I'll see if I can get back on the radar.

GloriaSmud Thu 29-Nov-18 11:19:25

I don't think Leicester's going to get the full-on version ~ it looks like a bit of a 'splodge' in the middle of the line, moving towards us at the moment!

Meet0nTheIedge Thu 29-Nov-18 11:15:11

It's extremely windy here, seemed to pick up strength between 9 and 10am (Surrey/Hants border). Not much rain though.

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 29-Nov-18 11:14:05

Squall line broke up in the south sad that's sad for me, I was looking forward to it.

GloriaSmud Thu 29-Nov-18 11:03:27

It's gone quite dark here (Leicester) ~ squall line approaching.

GloriaSmud Thu 29-Nov-18 10:11:59

It's looking rather stormy on the Dawlish webcam.

GloriaSmud Thu 29-Nov-18 10:08:19

Main lot of rain cleared quite quickly here and it's brightened up nicely but it's very windy.
Squall line showing up well here on netweather's radar.

They also need a warning about garden chairs going for a dip in ponds.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Thu 29-Nov-18 09:44:56

I think the new Met Office site might be missing a warning about wheely bins barrelling down the pavement at you.

brizzledrizzle Thu 29-Nov-18 09:35:43

Wet and windy down here, quite gusty.

Perihelion Thu 29-Nov-18 09:31:37

My new winter wellies arrived yesterday grin, perfect for today.

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 29-Nov-18 09:15:55

That Will be down to the squall line developing. Watch it as it comes through people.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Thu 29-Nov-18 08:30:48

Very very windy here. All I can hear is wind and stuff crashing about.

Recycling day, so might need to go and find the boxes in a minute.

Makinglists Thu 29-Nov-18 07:52:15

Win has really got up here on the outskirts of Plymouth in the last hour. think Its going to be an interesting walk to school.

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 29-Nov-18 07:09:01

Updated warnings with an extended area over the south.

Tomorrow looks potentially rather disruptive even out of the met office warning areas - the conditions look like they may be conducive to producing a squall line with damaging gusts and potential hail and lightning as it passes through. Be prepared for travel issues.

yes im guessing Wales must be high

nannynick Wed 28-Nov-18 20:27:01

River levels are increasing in some areas. Looking at the Ballater camera and chart it is very noticeable how much the river level has gone up in the past 5 hours.

A useful site for seeing river level data across the UK is GaugeMap: www.gaugemap.co.uk

whatsthestory123 Wed 28-Nov-18 16:41:35

been pretty much raining for last 48hrs and tomorrow looks grim if not worse with winds

GloriaSmud Wed 28-Nov-18 15:50:08

We've just had a bit of a squall go through here. Gusty wind, almost horizontal rain and soaked clothes again.
I didn't think today's school run could be any more unpleasant than yesterdays. I was wrong!
