I love it and have last 2 weeks of August booked off for family hols in the UK. Please say it will be nice then

Any weather people on here?

Hard to tell really, the models are very good at the moment of showing a break down in two weeks and just shifting that along in time.

Ooooo were going camping in the last week of August in the south coast and I’m soooo desperate for it to be nice.

I hope so ...

Can it please be a max of 24? Once it goes over that the pressures at work are seriously ramping up.

It looks a fair bit cooler from Wednesday but actually pleasant, temps in mid to low 20s.

any thoughts on the Evening Standard's threat of it going on till October?

OhYouBadBadKitten Mon 06-Aug-18 12:14:04

The article contradicts itself!

I think they are getting it from the met office contingency forecast which effectively says that it is more likely to be warmer and drier than average for the next three months, than not.

There is a cool down coming, but I think heat may build again after a few days, at least in the south.

LighthouseSouth Mon 06-Aug-18 12:19:37

oh god, more heating building cries

I just don't know what to do any more. We have looked at holidays to Scotland but have to give notice to work of course and if the forecasts are wrong, we will have spent a fortune going on a holiday we don't want, just to escape boiling flat/boiling Tube/boiling office.

LighthouseSouth Mon 06-Aug-18 12:22:12

sorry for more questions but is a contingency forecast more like a worst case?

the lowest temp I can get anywhere in my life at the mo is 26 at night and it's horrific.

OhYouBadBadKitten Mon 06-Aug-18 18:14:17

No, its generally not meant for the public (partly because they are actually really quite difficult to understand) They are for groups like local authorities and are intended to help with long term planning to mitigate for emergencies, managing grit levels and the like.

OhYouBadBadKitten Mon 06-Aug-18 18:15:42

Lighthouse you really can't plan on contingency forecasts, they aren't designed for that because they aren't actually forecasts iyswim. It's also an emerging science and really not very exact at all.

LighthouseSouth Mon 06-Aug-18 19:39:51

Thank you Kitten.

Couple of weather warnings for thunderstorms, today and tomorrow. 'Tis certainly quite humid here (Leicester) at the moment. A muggy and overcast 21C

gingercat02 Sun 12-Aug-18 14:51:57

I'm in Lanzarote but it's pissing down at home (NE coast)

Passthecake30 Sun 12-Aug-18 14:53:22

@ginger, what's the weather like I'm lanzarote? Do I need a cardi for the evening?

gingercat02 Sun 12-Aug-18 17:14:26

Probably good to bring one @passthecake30 . It's lovely in the day with the Atlantic breeze takes the edge off the 30°c heat but has been cool some nights

Passthecake30 Sun 12-Aug-18 19:15:55

Thanks @gingercat02 !

Cardi is now packed smile. I'm freezing cold in the south of England this evening.... can't wait to feel that sun again smile
