Bank holiday weather

sorry I've been a bit absent from this bit for a while.

After a nice week the bank holiday weekend weather looks, ermmm, potentially thunderstormy both on Saturday and Monday. GFS shows a ridiculous deluge on the Sunday night into Monday.

Thought people might appreciate a heads up. Plenty of time for it to change - cross your fingers!

Oh no OYBBK - will it still be warm though?

Huevos, at the moment it looks that way, though timing will vary. As we get closer I'll keep updating so people can maybe plan a bit.

Jill, it looks as though temps will drop through bank holiday monday.

It is typical!

On the plus side, looks like temp is going up this week. Though not so good when I am in the office - attic of an old building so gets rather hot.

Happily, gfs shows Saturdays low moving in slower on Saturday now to be an overnight affair, mostly further north across northern England and Scotland. Daytime temps look lovely on Saturday, low 20s.

Sunday, looks warmest in the SE, showery in many places.

Mondays deluge has vanished :) cool and showery, warm in the se.

Will update again tomorrow.

Could this be it? Our first caravanning trip in 4 years with wall to wall decent weather? Instead of insipid rain until the day of packing up when the sun always comes out?? Grin

I don't feel like producing a detailed forecast this morning, but for those that are following, much less wet looking. Hot saturday for many. Watch out for thunderstorms Monday.

thanks for asking AF, yeah, I'm ok.
I'll come back later and put more detail into it. I'd just seen the news at about the time of day I try to write my forecasts.

OYBBK this is a big ask...
We are meant to be going to France next week near Arcachon/Biscarrosse just south of Bordeaux on the Atlantic coast
The forecast says rain pretty much all next week Sad
Inland near avignon, or sarlat, or even on he cote d'azure near st trophez it looks much better.
My question is- how accurate is the forecast for about 6-7 days time?
Is a big storm looking like it's going to hit that west coast of France?
We have a chance to change our accommodation to another site but only if we do it in the next day of so...

Hope you are ok. I was up till 3 listening to the news in horror. Have been caught up in a terror attack myself so not feeling very rational about it all

(Ps a name changer as too identifying)

It does look pretty wet up the west coast at the moment, but I,don't know how stable the forecast is, it really has changed for this weekend now for the uk. Looks like the jet stream swings up over France early next week.

meteo france shows things better on the east side, but some light rain occasionally across all of france.

Thank you!
Can you see if it is solid rain or just showers?
When do you think I could trust the forecast- just a few days before?

I think it's possibly looking a bit better?

Report
OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/05/2017 14:40

I'm rubbish at guessing people :)

I think Monday looks possibly thunderstorms after that it cools a down a bit and, it's sunshine and showers across France. I don't think it especially matters where you are at that point apart from it is usually drier to the east of mountains!

ThAt is all I want to hear. Thank you x a million!
I was worried it was going to be wet on the west coast and dry everywhere else as that would have been bloody annoying!

OBBYK

I hope you are okay. In case it raises a smile, my iPad tried to autocorrect you to "obeying".

It is freakishly airless and muggy here which is not what was forecast. Seems to be a lot of disagreement on different sites for the weekend.

Grin Goldfish!

It has been a bit tricky this weekend, hopefully the forecasts are starting to converge a bit now.

My latest thoughts:
Saturday, scattered showers in the midlands, perhaps heavy and thundery at times. A chance that some thunderstorms will push up from the south east Saturday night (france shows lots of thunderstorm potential in places) Pleasant temps

Sunday - depends really on whether any storms pushed up. It could be quite cool and grey if they did. Best temps obviously where the cloud clears. Cooler. But still warm in se

Monday - A lot of uncertainty. Almost certainly cool, but gfs also is keen once again to bring in some heavy rain moving from the SE.

don, I would go. it won't be boiling and it might be a bit showery, but it doesn't look like bad camping weather in the Vale. Just keep an eye on Mondays forecast.
