Sherwood Forest area 1st week of July, and following weekend in Manchester?

OYBBK and other weather watchers,
has anyone any guidance on likely conditions in the Sherwood Forest area for the 1st week of July, or the Manchester metropolitan area the following weekend (8th)?

I am hoping for a week of shorts/tshirts and flipflops on holidays, but need to contemplate longer/heavier layers too as lots of the hols will be outdoors. And no time next week to pack so have to get sorted this week if possible.

Thanks in advance,
Biddy

It's obviously at the end of the forecasting range. I'm afraid at the moment GFS shows a pretty unsettled and cool period. I would be thinking of light weight rain gear and a change of shoes or two.

Sometimes shorts are best in wet weather outside in the summer, with a rain jacket and decent boots. Less, to dry off.

Thanks OYBBK, I ended up driving home in my hoodie yesterday after striking cub camp - rain got through all the proper rain gear and my tshirt was drenched as well. I have all the gear - I was just hoping not to have to bring too much of it.....{sad face} - partly so I'd have lots of room for new camping and other gear from the good shops in the UK, and a big food shop in Sainsbo's or similar on the way home!!

oh no :( perhaps just pack your swimming cossie and plan to be very wet and cold!
There is plenty of time for the forecast to change, but it doesn't help you enormously. Give me another prod just before you finalise and I'll have another look.

Thanks - look out for the shout in the middle of next week!! Grin

(It may be a very good excuse to bring firelogs and lots of wine!!)

Hi OYBBK,

I just wondered if your original indication of cooler and unsettled weather is still holding up for this weekend and next week?

I am currently trying to decide if it's worth packing the travel BBQ or just leaving that at home? And do I need a couple of jumpers?

Rain gear is already packed.....Sad.....copious gin supplies will be purchased en route Grin

yes, I'm afraid cool and changeable is the order of the day still. I would take a jumper, and shorts. bbq? well you never know - I think that carries on in most weathers doesn't it?
pack of cards to help you hide in the pub longer in the evening!
