spaceweather

seems that at last the sun is awakening a little. Potential for a large CME apparently. Not got much time to look at it, so hopefully someone else will jump in. You can get emailed or twittered aurora alerts from aurorawatch

Already seen some lovely pics of aurora in Iceland.

The best place to observe any activity will be around northern england/southern scotland.

Worth others peeking out too in the hope of a break in the clouds.

I think most of the East Coast of Scotland is shrouded in haar. Was in the Trossachs last night and after the Sun burning the mist off by lunchtime,it was a beautiful day. But by 10pm it was coming back. Same today, except back in Edinburgh the haar was coming inby teatime. Only chance would be well inland and up a big hill.

Sightly sniggering at a comment on Aororawatch FB page, suggesting that the Northerly fog/mist would have had a green glow if seen with a 30 second exposure on camera.....er no.

I've just started an armchair aurora watching thread (webcams in high latitude locations) for those of you who are interested. No freezing your arse off in the back garden necessary. I might nick RedToothBrush's link though.
