Snow watch!!!!

well, it looks like winter finally might be arriving!

First indications for snow are for this coming saturday as a low pressure draws in cold air . The met office arent really going for it at the moment, but the potential is certainly there. At the moment I'd say the biggest risk is for the midlands and central England.

After that there seems to be a cold few days but then the models start to disagree. GFS shows a positive snow fest for the 24th! masses of snow, but its a long way off and until we get much closer who knows what really will happen.

I'll believe it when I look out my window and see it, Grin

It would be great if it did though. Grin

Kitten, this is good news but I'm trying hard not to get my hopes up Grin

I found the TWO thread you linked to even more confusing than usual. Some of them seem to think that the cold will be short-lived after this weekend Confused

Please no! I want it to stay mild until Spring. I hate snow, well ice really because that's what we get here and that's why it's a pain. I was in Italy for Xmas and it was 18 degrees. I was Grin every day.

Yes Little, I think we are going straight into summer. I had my washing out today, there is no way I am going to need the snow shovel. I'm having none of it. Grin

Sad I don't want any snow, especially not this weekend as my DH is on call.

If it comes it needs to be full on, everyone snowed in kind of snow, not a half hearted attempt.

Oh Kitten, do ya think it'll make it's way down to the South Downs?

Devon really really needs snow. We live on a huge hillside, it cries out for tobogganing! Grin

I agree that although I don't want any it has to be six foot deep or not at all. None of the wondering if the school's open and dicing with death to do the school run. That's what I hate. DS2 is 1/2 a mile down the road but DS1's school is 12 miles away so weh have the 'will the buses get through' thing as well.

There is blossom on the tree in town, pink fluffy spring blossom. Right next to a roundabout that's trees' are still full of Christmas lights.

My 14yo DD declared this to be very wrong and that the tree should stick to its proper season.

She'd love snow. I'd much rather it didn't.

Normally I like cold and frosty, but our roads are so wet they will turn into a sheet of ice and disintegrate when it thaws.

We don't need lots of weather damaged road signs, the council have only just finished patching up from 3&4 years ago's winters.

We could really do with a proper cold snap to get rid of the bugs in the garden. But I think I'd like to place an order for 3 days of really deep crisp snow which then melts pretty much overnight please!

I love this! It's pain in the bum, tbh, but if I'm organised and ready for it, it won't be so bad.

I have today, put a big bag of warm clothes and boots in the car, for me and DD. The snow shovel is bought and I will be buying a big bag of salt at the weekend.

We have stacks of fabulous homemade soup in the freeze. Need to get some milk for the freezer and make some hot chocolate mix. Maybe make sure I've got enough ingredients for bread and I'm ready!

Hilariously, I live in SE London, so I'll probably not need any of it, but I'm ready anyway! Grin

Ooh I hope you're right! We'd love it.

Dh bought the whole family snow boots and sledges last year in preparation for a deluge.

Report
Sparklingbrook · 08/01/2013 19:00

Don't forget to buy sledges before it snows. To avoid disappointment. Wink

No no no! Not for the 24th. I have friends & family travelling from all over the country for my 40th. I'm in the midlands, it can do what it like till then but not that weekend.
