Is it true?

I dont know where he's read that, but he reckons we are in for a big freeze in a couple of weeks or so.

I dont know why Im particularly bothered, but I would just like to know.

My take on it at the moment is that from the weekend it looks like there is going to be a gradual cool down, with some snow/rain coming into the picture. The following weekend is when it might really get going properly. GFS then clears it out far too quickly, but we shall see.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 07:33:23

GFS still is showing a big cool down from around the 19th on with very wintery charts in the following days.

Metoffice seem to be sitting on the fence as usual

LillethTheCat Tue 08-Jan-13 13:16:38

Thanks for the updates. Id like snow cos its pretty, but Id like it not to intefere with the travelling.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 13:49:03

Tak1ng, I don't blame them to be honest, it could rather easily all go pear shaped!

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 13:59:05

GFS is maintaining remarkable consistency for so far out time wise. Still showing winter starting the weekend of the 19th with buckets of snow about the place.

Although it would be really inconvenient, I'd be gutted if it didn't come off!

Sparklingbrook Tue 08-Jan-13 14:00:45

Noooooooooo!! No buckets of snow. None at all. It is all mild and lovely at the moment, and we are going to go straight into summer. <deluded>

GloriaSnow Tue 08-Jan-13 14:39:50

They're getting a bit excited about the possible snowmageddon on met-monkey <understatement!> The GFS chart along with the temperatures over Europe~way are a bit of a shock for the 24th. 'Ts all a long way off atm though!

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 14:55:45

The charts are jaw dropping Gloria grin must have a wander over to met monkey, the guys on UKWW are always so calm and laid back about stuff!

Sparkling, if it really was going to go straight into summer I'd be quite happy! It's this damp grey gloom that is getting to me. I need either heat or some excitement!

Must get some wellies for dd, she's grown out of hers and I might need mine!

Sparklingbrook Tue 08-Jan-13 15:02:33

I had to get DS1 a new pair of wellies. He went on the village Christmas walk, he and his friend thought it would be fun to cross the very flooded wet ploughed field diagonally. He lost his shoe completely and I had to dash over with wellies. shock We have the other shoe as a souvenir. grin

mankyscotslass Tue 08-Jan-13 15:58:18

Oh snow - that would be great. grin

ClaimedByMe Tue 08-Jan-13 16:01:37

We are being told on fb by our local amatur weather gura that temps here are due to drop and we will be freezing by the mention of the white stuff yet!

ClaimedByMe Tue 08-Jan-13 16:04:38

excuse typos I had to rush as dd and ds were trying to kill each other

tak1ngchances Tue 08-Jan-13 17:14:04

kitten and gloria I am gripping my knickers with excitement. The twitterati are out in force exclaiming over the models. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 17:25:02

errmmm, I ought to have paid more attention to GFS for this weekend - so busy looking for the 'big dump' but Saturday could see some snow in the midlands and central england. Its looking very marginal, but possible.....

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 17:26:10

have to laugh at the express grin

ClaimedByMe Tue 08-Jan-13 17:28:20

Are they telling little white fibs?

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 17:31:20

Don't normally link to other forums but if you want to get all excited (and then probably get let down in a big way!) excited discussion

tak1ngchances Tue 08-Jan-13 17:31:57

The Express and the Mail are shocking when it comes to weather reporting. Mind you, they probably apply the same degree of hyperbole to all their articles!

Quenelle Tue 08-Jan-13 17:33:52

Oooh good! My new rain/snowboots arrived today smile

Sparklingbrook Tue 08-Jan-13 17:37:48

Mmm. Marginal snow may be ok. I don't want to need the snow shovel. grin

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 17:46:39

Waiting for the next model outputs.... exciting!

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 08-Jan-13 17:50:13

do you reckon I should start a new thread with snow risks and what not?? or are we doing fine with traffic on this one?

Curtsey Tue 08-Jan-13 17:58:44

Kitten - may I be incredibly cheeky and ask you if you have a way of seeing if Ireland might be similarly affected? smile

LynetteScavo Tue 08-Jan-13 18:06:50

So I need to buy a snow shovel before the 19th? Is that right?
