Mumsnet thunder storm watch!

Think England and Wales especially could be in for thunderstorms this afternoon as temperatures rise. There's more about it here on netweather. (I think the metoffice are attempting to do a weather warning about it but the page here hasn't been working for several days.)

We've currently got 23C here (Leicester) and it's quite humid in the sun.

We've either got thunder rumbling round the hills here in Sheffield, or someone is kicking the heck out of a lot of wheelie bins. I'm going with thunder. The sky is alternately blue and gorgeous or black and scary-looking with clouds by Steven Spielberg.

I quite like a good thunderstorm so am quietly a bit excited about it.

The weather has been shit here from the moment I woke up

Nothing as exciting as a thunderstorm even. Just more wind and rain. I spoke to my sister in London for the first time in a while and she couldn't believe it when I told her it hadn't been remotely hot and sunny here (Cornwall) for the whole of August.

We were sitting in our car outside the cricket club at 1.15pm when an enormous crack of thunder and flash of lightening happened at the same time. The TV and lights all went out in the club house and fused. A couple of the players said that they saw sparks on the ground! I think we might have had a lucky escape! We were between Worcester and Birmingham.
