Long range Met Office forecast says not - something like long protacted hot spell VERY UNLIKELY. No longer sure what season we are in, sigh.

Lunch time news just been talking to weather man, who says no protracted spell of warm/dry weather for next 4 weeks. No decent forecast after that.

I think my DCs go back for the autumn term on 3 Sept. So I predict an Indian summer starting exactly then.

Sorry, guys. I think this is my fault. I'm on maternity leave and spent the winter getting huge and dreaming of hot days walking the pram and hanging out in the garden with the baby. Things don't ever tend to go the way I've planned, so I fear I may have jinxed it for you all. I go back in September, so expect a glorious late heatwave then.

No, it's because I bought new summer clothes and sandals when it looked hopeful in May.

Certainly nothing nice showing until at least the 23rd which is as far ahead as I can look (couple of days ago there was hints of the 21st but that got washed away)
Many of us will get the odd pleasant day here and there - treasure anything that comes your way!

According to The Times today the met office are saying the next month is going to be like this. Am cross. I'm camping again and I can't bare the thought of another wet week in a tent. The last 5 years have been shit, torrential rain for the majority of the holiday.

life I must take my share of the blame. I start my maternity leave tomorrow. I had a lovely summer planned, in order to make the most of having every single weekend off. We live by the beach, we haven't been to it since May. All the places we would normally take dd to in the nice weather haven't happened.

Plus we bought a campervan last autumn. We've been out in it once, at half term, and we couldn't even leave the awning up all week as it was so windy Sad

Can they predict far enough ahead to say there's not going to be any decent spells of weather for the next month?

I thought , that weatherforcasts were notoriously unreliable- please some one tell me that I'm right! Grin

Wantto, they can't really predict what will happen on individual days that far in advance but they can look at the general weather pattern with a certain degree of accuracy ( sort of, sometimes it goes badly wrong!)

Ok, looked ahead to the 26th July. although I still cant see any real changes in the weather pattern - there is once again a glimmer of hope at the end of the run with the jet stream looking perhaps a little less meandery and hints of high pressure.
However, that is just one model run, so dont get too excited yet.

We're having our annual BBQ on the 28th and are crossing everything that it is not too soggy- 80 people will not fit in my house comfortably!

I can predict it will be fabulous here while we are in Spain (where there will no doubt be some freakishly wet, cold weather Hmm)
