No met ofice warnings at the moment and the path of the storm is still uncertain, but at the moment I think there is potential for widespread severe gales - just unsure of where atm.

yellow warnings out for much of the UK reflecting the uncertainty of track and depth of low. Once again a storm (or not) that is being modelled differently by different computer models.

ok, looks more to be a Tuesday issue. track still uncertain but I think that the warning area may move further north. Sorry southern scotland....

2 out of the 3 models I looked at this morning show the strongest winds to be over southern Scotland/Northern England , once brings them further south. However when you look at the met office predicted wind speeds it shows both the very south of England and the NE of Scotland with the strongest wind speeds.

ok, models are looking more in agreement with widespread gales, possibly severe. Also blizzards look like a real issue over much of Scotland and perhaps the Pennines.

Tescos had a sale of snow shovels on last week, they had an over supply as noone was buying them. I reckon the price will go back up now!

Having read up some other thoughts, it does look like the met office warnings for the south are justified. What is missing is warnings for of Scotland (plus all the snow warnings that may well be justified)
Two areas of strong (perhaps severe gale) winds. One across the centre of the UK, stretching over time down to the channel where storm force winds may occur (lucky old Kent!?) and also across Scotland. In between those areas still looking very windy.
Still a couple of days away from this event, but worth being prepared.

aha! Met office have now also posted wind warnings for Scotland too. Worth noting the ice warnings for some tomorrow.

Morning all, models in pretty good agreement for a deepening low pressure to pass over Scotland in the early hours/daytime tomorrow with gales/severe gales, particularly in the west and along the south coast during rush hour.

Not looking quite so like there will be severe gales in parts of Scotland but worth bearing in mind that if the storm develops a sting jet then this is a possibility.

Some very heavy rain associated with this storm which may well turn snowy over higher ground in Scotland (query pennines too???).

I have just put the thermometer outside but it feels quite cold plus there is a bracing wind.

Thermometer reading 2 degrees. Am not sure how accurate it is as it feels much colder.

We have had such a battering here from the winds the last few weeks, I cant believe we are about to get more!

Looks really quite nasty for Scotland now in the latest models with a large swathe away from the very north of Scotland seeing gusts of 80mph+ severe gales quite likely for Edinburgh and Glasgow even during the day time.

Southern coastal areas of England will likely see severe gales too with generally widespread gales across the rest of the UK.

I expect to see an upgrade to amber warnings for Scotland and perhaps for some of central and southern England away from coastal areas to lose their warnings altogether for this storm.
