Just come back in to see it all go mad on the weather front in the SE. Be aware that the developing storms may produce damaging hail, flash flooding, c-g strikes (unplug those pcs if there is a storm about) and strong squally winds.

Is that today?

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:17:49

yup!! Basically se of a line drawn from the Wash to just west of the IOW

TORRO severe thunderstorm watch

Cattleprod Tue 28-Jun-11 13:18:45

It's just started raining. Supposed to be meeting friends in the park at 2. I love a good walk in the rain personally but I bet they get all woosy-woo and want to cancel!

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:19:45

classic radar image on met office for a line of possibly severe storms developing (look at rainfall view)

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:20:16

No umbrellas or sheltering under trees cattleprod - otherwise enjoy!!

meditrina Tue 28-Jun-11 13:21:36

DCs have matches and outdoors after school activities!

Thanks for posting - I'll be taking kagoules (which I might not otherwise have done, as it still looks OK here).

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:22:18

Big storm wimbledon ish way!!

TobyLerone Tue 28-Jun-11 13:23:57

It's raining here, too. Nothing major though. Just started.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:24:02

you are welcome meditrina. Wet and rumbly here, lightning all medium level stuff (down towards southern end of the line of storms).

Ok, that was more 'drainpipe thunder'. Will be switching over to netbook soon me thinks.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:25:28

We had quite a prolonged period of on/off rain before it started sounding grumpy if that helps, but we are on the edge and going to miss all the really interesting stuff.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:25:44

<Blows it towards TobyL>

Cattleprod Tue 28-Jun-11 13:26:12

We've had 3 rumbles now (south coast)

meditrina Tue 28-Jun-11 13:27:18

What on earth is "drainpipe thunder"?

going Tue 28-Jun-11 13:27:37

Couldn't tell if it was thunder or wheelies bins being moved around - so many rumbles!

TobyLerone Tue 28-Jun-11 13:28:05

It's stopped raining again now (E. Kent).

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:28:45

<hmm> sky gone a bit 'greeny' usually a good sign (unless you are cycling in it which I will be in a bit!)

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:29:36

Its that prolonged hollow sounding thunder meditrina (sorry, its not an official term, its a personal one)

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:31:01

Main line is currently west of you TobyL. As it moves north I think it will move east too, so you may catch some later. The main storm line is very sharply defined at the moment.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:33:13

that was a good strike. Just as I was about to head out.

OhYouBadBadKitten Tue 28-Jun-11 13:33:58

Anyone in west London please?? reports wanted!

TobyLerone Tue 28-Jun-11 13:35:20

Yeah, I just looked at the Met Office radar wossname. We're in for it later, by the looks of it. 4pm ish.

Antidote Tue 28-Jun-11 13:37:12

I think I've got a bit of a crush on OYBBK blush

I was about to check the weather and thought to myself, I bet the nice lady on mumsnet will have warned us if we are due thunder!

Really humid and rumbly here in east London, but no rain yet.....

It is waiting till I have to leave for swimming isn't it?
