sorry for my absence in the weather threads this week or so. A lot of real life going on. Dundee though had a whopper of a hail storm on Thursday.

Anyway, this weekend as no doubt you'll have seen gets really rather warm. Some parts will see 30C by Sunday/Monday. oof. Along with that hot weather there is a real risk of some good storms on Monday. When and where.....? No idea yet. A cold front moving south will herald more normal June temperatures and as that comes across the hot humid air, theres' potential for a good degree of instability. More details to come......

Saw that we're getting some rather warm hot weather tomorrow and Monday.
DD2's going on a school residential Monday-Tuesday, with lots of outside activities, so DH's off to load up with suncream for her to take!
I'll look forward to some hopefully good thunderstorms when it all cools down.

(Hope everything's OK.)

Hope you're ok, Kitten.
I await the warm/sun spell with interes - it hasn't stopped raining in Devon for six months (ish) Grin

Grin Sue, you must be a good swimmer by now! Gloria, your poor dd! she'll be half baked Monday.

Things are ok, thank you both. Got some big projects on that are proving to be more stressful and time consuming than they ought to be, but it's just a case of ploughing through.

LOL at 'half baked!' All 3 DDs have got DH's colouring (blond hair/blue eyes/light skin) so all end up looking like this >> Angry when they go out in the sun!

Looking forward to a bit of heat. Grin

Poor DS1 is at Cub Camp this weekend, when we dropped him off last night cars were stuck in the mud at the car parks, and it was still raining.

It rained all night, and they are in tents. Grin.

Pick up is tomorrow afternoon, just in time for the sunshine!

manky, sounds like everything will need sluicing down when they get back! Perhaps stand everything (including cubs!) in a carwash, that'll do it!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/06/2011 11:25

That sounds like a good plan Gloria - I pity you Manky!

Thank you :) Taking the afternoon off from being a responsible person - bit of food shopping, watch dd riding and that's about it :)

Hello there OYBBK, how bad do you reckon the storms are going to be? I'm flying into Brum on Monday night from Brisbane and not very good at motion sickness! Envy

I think that they will be severe enough to issue warnings closer to the time I'm afraid. As long as you dont have to circle too much you should be ok(!) (but I'd take some tablets along with you just in case!)
I think (and could be very very wrong!) that the storms will be more of a southern affair so you may miss the worst of the bumps.
Monday will feel horrid before the cooler air arrives. Really hot and muggy.

It's already changing to being very muggy here now, though still drizzling on and off.

Humidity on weather station at 61%

And the car wash for the cub seems like a great idea! Grin

Metoffice have issued a Heat Watch Sunday~Tuesday and weather warnings for thunderstoms, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Sun's just started breaking through here and it's beginning to get warm.

Really decent lifted index centred around central eastern England (bedford/cambridge/Leicester) but putting much of EA/SE in the firing line for tomorrow afternoon according to GFS. Bracknell fax charts show a trough over that area at the same time. Coupled with the very high temperatures it looks really interesting to my amateur eyes.

We are up to 24.8C but I have to say in the sun it feels roasting! (my rain gauge thermometer which is in full sunlight - ridiculous but it comes with the gauge says 31C. it goes to show the difference you get between proper readings and random out in the sun ones)

It's warmed up here dramatically. We're all down with summer colds and not really appreciating it.

Temo gauge says 29C here, not in full sunlight. 59% humidity.

It's hot and humid. It keeps clouding over then going really bright again.

Just as well really, DS1 is back from camp, and I have had to put his good walking boots and his heavy duty wellies out in the garden to try and dry the inch thick mud off!

Not to mention the washing he brought home.

Report
GloriaSmud · 26/06/2011 16:34

Not heading for the carwash with everything then, manky?!
Our car temp says it's 29C as well but my little terracotta thermometer in the garden says it's 30-31C.
Was going to have curry for dinner tonight; maybe that isn't such a good idea!

DH did drive up to a car wash and tell him he was going in. He didn't take it too well. Grin

It probably just as well the cubs aren't on camp this afternoon, can you imagine 100s of cubs with heat stroke?

At least I have been able to get all his kit washed and dried, even though some of it took 2 washes and I've got the machine running a rinse cycle empty to try and clean the drum after it all!

Grin
Says something when you have to give the inside of a washing machine a wash as well!

Overcast and windy in Glasgow most of the weekend. Quite muggy out there now... Could do with a storm

32.4 here with 46 % humidity. I'm not particularly enjoying it. I'm on my bed under the fan with multiple glasses of ice water and a water spray to try and keep cooler.

Its been warm but cloudy and overcast most times over here. 25 degrees celsius. Yesterday was cooler than today and the sun wasn't out until it was about 6 or 7 in the evening. It hasn't been a real heatwave in my opinion.
