Thundery showers later this week?

An amateur, but good, forecaster elsewhere says that there'll be thundery showers moving up from France later this week. I've looked on the MetOffice website but there's no mention, and I'm not very good at interpreting the pressure charts.

Kitten or anyone - any likelihood?

I'd like some rain, although I appreciate others won't want their Bank Holiday ruined.

Sounds interesting, I would hate for the weekend to be ruined but would love a good thundery shower. We haven't had any storms since we moved 3 years ago here :(

The metoffice gives a mention of the possibility of thundery showers on Saturday but then says most places should stay dry.
Would be nice for the garden to have some rain; looks like getting the hosepipe out is going to become a regular thing.

(This is 'winterpetunia' BTW, with an attempt at a witty new name!)

Now the forecast on the BBC website is showing light rain showers for my area for Sat&Sun; and the metoffice is showing possible thunderstorms on the south coast on Sunday.

I wouldn't want too much rain (enough to see if our newly-installed water butt works would be good), but I'd like a little bit of variation from this wall-to-wall sunshine.

Love your new name GloriaSmud - took me a little while to figure it out. Grin

Looks like the eastern coast from the Wash up to Scotland has the potential for the most interesting storms today.

We've been in Hunstanton,on the Wash all day today,in the most glorious hot sunny weather. We got home at 8pm [to Leicestershire] just as a huge flash of lightening shot across the sky.I'd been predicting a storm for the previous half hour, but all we got was a light shower.I'm most disappointed, the sky had gone such an odd colour that I was expecting a real humdinger.

Today's main risk runs along the south coast from dorset through to sussex. CAPE and lifted index look quite hopeful I think.
We really really need the rain down here.

Met office have some advisories out for this here They have quite a small risk area highlighted, but I think thunderstorms could develop over a wider area than the advisories suggest.
