Morning all - taking me a few minutes to get going, sp lease bear with me.
Looks like a snow day for me 8cm and still snowing - small amounts compared to many of you, but probably enough to be disruptive.

I see the snow has extended further west than the met office warnings. I would be interested in reports of snow depths to the west of the isle of Wight in the south please

Plenty of snow showers along the whole eastern coast (with perhaps the exception of some of norfolk)

Gatwick closed until tomorrow.

ok, off to look at the models.

we have some in Devon this morning - wasn't expecting it. I don't think it is very deep though but settled for the first time here.

Katz Thu 02-Dec-10 07:22:00

Sheffield. Still snowing here. Last measure was at least 40cm that was last night. Been snowing through the night too

Just waiting to see if school is open

WynkenBlynkenandNod Thu 02-Dec-10 07:25:43

East Dorset has about 4 or 5 inches I think but haven't been out yet to check properly. DD's school which never shuts is shut. Looks like the sky might dump another load soon.

ethelinaTheBloodyGreatXmasElf Thu 02-Dec-10 07:25:45

A good 4 inches overnight in Kent. Glad I did the shopping yesterday, don't fancy digging the car out today.

silverfrog Thu 02-Dec-10 07:25:58

We had more overnight - Kent/Surrey border here. Am still in bed so hard to guage depth -grin will report back once up. Looks like a good 10/12 cm though.

Not currently snowing, but looks like more t come judging by the sky...

MummyBerryJuice Thu 02-Dec-10 07:28:20

Yup. Still snowing here grin

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 02-Dec-10 07:31:30

looks like some respite for the NE and Scotland later on for a bit over night.

I am really unsure as to whether there will be a temporary warm up in the south on Saturday. I'm going to be honest and say that I'm waiting for some discussions on weather forums for this when they wake up.

not really Leonie - possibly the odd shower?

Saltire Thu 02-Dec-10 07:38:12

I'm in North Yorkshire and it seems to ahve snowed continually since Sunday! Am sick of it nowgrin

Indith Thu 02-Dec-10 07:47:59

So later today us Durham area MNers are going to have to decide if we are going ahead with our night out on Saturday or not sad. What do you think?

Met office map is orange for us today but all pretty and green for the weekend but not sure I trust it as it has pretty much constantly showed no warnings for the following day until the last minute. The BBC says sleet then sun for Friday and Saturday. I'm just worried about how much ice will be on the roads if it all gets slushy in the day.

Hulababy Thu 02-Dec-10 07:50:50

Mine and DD's schools are closed again. Good call really. No buses running. And it is still very deep in places and still snowing.

Forecast for the next five days after today howeer, on the BBC, is looking far more promising - fingers crossed.

OhYouBadBadKitten Thu 02-Dec-10 07:55:38

Indeth - i'll have a look later.
in the mean time I've got to get dd and I ready - looks like school is on (and I'm helping today)

PfftTheMagicDragon Thu 02-Dec-10 08:00:59

Can anyone tell me what it is like in East Sussex, round the Hastings/Battle area?

ChildofIsis Thu 02-Dec-10 08:01:49

Indith I saw a warning on sky news weather yesterday warning of lows of -9 in durham over the weekend, I don't know if that's helpful or not.

MummyBerryJuice Thu 02-Dec-10 08:02:58

Ah Saltire, and I remember you bemoaning your snowlessness not that long ago grin. Come and join us on the 'I Hate Snow' club thread!

goingroundthebend4 Thu 02-Dec-10 08:03:46

east Herts have had couple cm overnight but main roads are slow but otherwise ok but it is snowing again

nymphadora Thu 02-Dec-10 08:05:50

we had more snow last night. Still only couple of cm & traffic moving on main roads

Sidge Thu 02-Dec-10 08:08:50

Wow how things can change in twelve hours! We've gone from no snow to about three or four inches and we're by the sea on the central south coast. Schools are closed and it's still coming down. Luckily I'm on leave this week so no childcare dilemmas!

MaureenMLove Thu 02-Dec-10 08:08:50

Got meself another 15cms in my neck of the woods!

PurplePillow Thu 02-Dec-10 08:16:25

We have had a small shower but sky looks heavy and hoping for more grin sw scotland btw

BigTillyMincepie Thu 02-Dec-10 08:19:05

Quite a bit fell in the night in London SE22 - now maybe 10 - 15cm thick, with ice under the snow.

The weather is worse today, but both my DC's schools are open, despite being closed yesterday, whilst all the other schools round here that were open yesterday, are now closed hmm

BrigitBigKnickers Thu 02-Dec-10 08:23:35

Essex- more snow overnight. Both DDs schools are shut. DD2s school (which never shuts)has left them loads of work to do on their internet site so she will be kept busy!

DH is stranded in Geneva- he went their for the day yesterday for a business meeting and ended up staying there.

Looking nervously at the departure and arrivals boards for London City airport but not hopeful he will make it back...

laughalot Thu 02-Dec-10 08:45:25
