Morning all.
Still very significant amounts of snow showing on the radar for the NE and parts of northern England and heavy showers up into the east side of Scotland. Light snow in some of the SE.

I hear on the radio Gatwick airport is closed.

off to look at the models :)

We have had at least 7 inches overnight been up with a poorly dc and don't think it stopped all night we are in the midlands

We had a bit more in London SE22. DD is delighted that her school is shut, just waiting to hear about DS's!

Loads here is South Yorkshire. At least 50 schools closed in our LEA already.

I hate this weather.

Radar seems to reflect today's theme very well, heavy snow from Yorkshire up the east coast, further burying them! A chance for heavier snow in the SE and along part of the south coast later on today into tonight. This could get quite disruptive.

It may all change at the weekend. Warm air is moving up from the south. It may not win though! The models are split on this. Impossible to predict whether it will be an end to this cold spell or whether it will be a warmer blip or even not really warm up the northern half at all. While it fights it out it could lead to freezing rain for some with nasty conditions. As always keep an eye on the forecasts and met office warnings

I think dd is disappointed that we've not had any surprise snow overnight.

Judging from the radio every school in North Lincolnshire is shut and the roads and public transport are bad. Here in the East Yorkshire coast we still have the same covering we've had all week but no real fresh snowfall - however, my school inland is shut and it's still falling in Hull and that area. Can't believe it's been a week already. Unbelievable for November.

Derbyshire seems to be buried. No buses and no schools open. Have never seen this depth of snow before we have 15 inches on top of the fence and it's still falling heavily.

DD's school is closed now. 68 schools in our LEA closed and rising.

loads more here this morning - had been planning to walk with DD2 up to nearest garden centre to see Santa - but think even he will have difficulty getting out.

One mad person tried to get their car out - no success.

I'm off today anyway and DP had finally given in and decided to stay home - but he's pacing the kitchen already... It's going to be a long day

Oh no you don't! DD's friend stayed last night as her mum is stuck in Manchester. All road and rail routes over the Pennines are closed and friend's mum has no prospect of getting back any time soon.

I am supposed to be working from home today with two over excited children running around and we are running out of food.

Sigh.

Sorry, confusion there. The buses are running on the main road at the bottom of the hill. Luckily that road has been salted. Our hill is impassable except maybe by 4 x 4.

DD1 fell over twice yesterday on her way back home Sad

Also, she had to jump out of the way as a car skidded and nearly went into her, as it foolishly attempted our hill Shock [lucky escape emoticon]
