Tuesday snow

Some severe conditions for parts of Yorkshire and NE england again. Parts of Scotland too. Mixture of showers - light and heavy snow, some drizzle for many of the rest of us.

We have a very light covering where I am but the main area of snow has been much slower than predicted last night. I don't expect to see huge accumulations in the south today and it may end up being a bit of a wet mix at times.

I used to like snow before I had pre-schoolers and nursery / work runs.

Light dusting in North Hampshire.

When I was togging up yesterday and running round for lost gloves, I had a sudden flash back to the hassle of winter clothing last year.

I think you should get a little more - the main snow band is struggling to get across to you but it probably will.

Snow overnight here, just about a cm though, not a lot!

I have been out and cleared out front garden and the pavement beyond the hedge and salted it.

We are expecting 2 deliveries today, Tesco and Argos. The snow isn't that bad but I have a feeling they will cancel. Hmm

Snowing in SW London but not really sticking...the flakes are very small. We need those big cotton-wool ones to get any kind of coverage!

Snow falling steadily here in SE London/Kent. It's settling in the gardens but roads are ok so far.

Only a light dusting in South Northants. I had big hopes for snow tonight so school would be closed tomorrow, but met office says it's unlikely- boo!!

In Derbyshire around four inches overnight. Most schools are closed so at least no school run today.

Had about 2cms here in Leicester overnight. The roads on our estate are like an ice~rink, as I found out when I took DD1 to school! She's not impressed; not only has she got hockey (possibly outside!) today, she heard that there are a few schools in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire (where they had heavier snow than we did) closed and so she thinks her school should be closed as well.
Not only that, DDs 2 and 3 are off school with a stomach bug so it seems to her that the only person in the whole of Leicestershire going to school, is her!

DH has found the webcam for the penguins at Edinburgh Zoo. THey are loving the snow!

It kept the kids busy and entertained while I got sorted for the school run.

The cat loved it too!

more warnings Much of the UK covered in orange now.

Could be a big problem with ice over night for much of the south (I know that in many places 'up north' you already have a problem with ice!) as the temps are just above freezing now but will give a hard frost tonight.
